At night,my thoughts ponder.
I sleep and my thoughts wander.
If the moon had a face, what would it look like?

Would it have eyes, welcoming and kind?
And a grin, the most welcoming you could find?
But when I finally look at the moon above me.

Sure,it has no face.
But it glows in grace.
And starlight surrounds it.

I looked for its comfort night and day.
But its presence never went away.
No,it came back every night.

It tucked me in and held me tight.
And the stars sang me lullabies to sleep.
One day,the stars told me an old legend.

They told me the sun and moon were considered distant lovers.
Night gave comfort, and day – flowers.
They told me,they were never supposed to meet.

But during an eclipse, the two celestial bodies greet.
But when I look at the moon,it empties my thoughts.
Flowers bloom,nothing rots.

The moon,the shine.
The glow all mine.
Hard to find,but that’s what I’m after.

The stars that shine, the children’s laughter.
When you look up at the night sky,you see nothing.
But I see something worth going after.

The stars that shine, and the moon’s smile and laughter.
How could a celestial body be so wonderful and ethereal?
How could it all be real?

How could I always smile in his presence,no matter how I feel?
One day I stared, and the moon responded to me.
I would do so much more, but I know your thoughts don’t let you be.

But tell me,how am I so special?
And so I ask the same.
You didn’t even need to know my name.

And yet,we live the same.
We both wake up groggy in bed.
We both keep going despite all in our heads.

And the sun then came and asked, will you be my one and only?
Let us be there when we both feel lonely?
And yes,I remember what he told me.

Yet,I only asked him to hold me.
