Life is often like a costume party.
Everyone wears a costume of choice.
And the party makes a lot of noise.

Everyone has a different voice behind the mask.
Some quiet,some loud.
Hidden by the mask they picked and found.

Life is like a crowd.
It’s a mix of all kinds of people.
And all sorts of makeup, carnival costumes.

There is a jester here and there.
In the corner even stands a fae.
Some are shy,some are timid.

And some are colorful,loud.
Yet,it’s not always easy to blend into a crowd.
My costume varied over the years.

My mask was often colorful and hid my tears.
And the choice of costume represented my personality.
I am here for all to see.

Yes,I am imperfect,so are we.
Come over and look at me behind the mask.
Is it glass,is it porcelain?

And to completely love it all is a task.
When I was younger,my costume here was a jester.
Born and made to purely entertain.

Then my costume was a poet, playing life’s game.
And my mask is now painted gold.
A golden heart,they say.

And my friends’ costumes really vary.
Some were cute and some are scary.
This is the number one society.

People hiding behind masks and costumes.
Only to reveal humans underneath.
Afterall,what else would you expect?

Did you expect the person to be a literal jester under?
It’s funny how sometimes we ponder.
All the things in life that give us wonder.

Life is a costume party.
For you never know what’s underneath.
Don’t remove the mask yet and remember to breathe.

And yet, they say costumes are a want, not need.
