- Distance between three hearts
Distance Between Three Hearts
By Jessy Jacob
The day I left my little son
with his father’s waiting hands,
I cried without holding back,
and my son cried with me.
He did not ask me why,
he did not speak a single word —
he only watched my tears
and let his own tears fall beside mine.
Two hearts wept together that day,
bound by a sorrow too deep for speech.
I could not stop crying,
and neither could my child.
Then came the day
my man too left my side.
I cried again,
and he too cried silently,
with tears hidden inside his eyes.
We stood helpless before life,
unable to stop each other’s pain.
Unknown roads called us away,
and we never knew
distance would become our companion
for so many years.
Now when I look back,
the distance between us
still feels the same.
More than a decade has passed,
yet we three continue living apart,
adjusting ourselves to life,
learning to survive through longing.
And even today,
somewhere within silent nights,
I still cry…
he still cries…
and my son too.
Three hearts,
still loving each other
across the distance time could not heal.
