This entry is part 24 of 45 in the series Poetry of Life, Death & the In-between

I want to fall in love again

Deeper than I’ve ever been…

to fall in love with The One

who will never leave me lonely.

I want to fall

deeply, madly, hopelessly, forever

in love with Myself.

I want to learn to love the me

who sinks into hard painful thoughts,

who aches with sorrows of another,

who queries, “How might I help?”

I’ll love the patient me who gives;

I’ll draw for her safe lines of boundaries.

I want to love myself enough

to keep this me I’m trying to love Protected.

I’ll love the me who holds fond memories dear

those of comfort, beauty, love & safety,

who vividly revisits happy places recollected.

I’ll love the me of Times Gone By

who built the me of Now–

love that I could ski and dine and be Alone & happy

Love that I still can.

I’m going to find that ME I love—

to cherish, strengthen, build and simply

Be

in Love.
