I can hear the ring of youthful sorrow, for sure. Even then your writing was excellent, my friend. Talent is apparently timeless.

I sense the merging of poetry and song .. it seems even back then you had something of a golden pen sir D .. Neville 😎👍

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Neville. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was one of those writes that I knew I had something good, but I never considered myself a poet in those days, I was a lyric writer and engulfed fully into songwriting at that moment in my life. I always believed a lyricist wasn’t on the same level as a poet. Even, Bob Dylan, one of the best lyricist’s of all time has never considered himself a poet. I think a little differently these days. lol. Appreciate you.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was one of the first for sure, maybe even number one. I was a lyricist first at the time in my life. There were a couple different poems I penned in 96. I just put the year on my writes back then, anyhow there were a couple of poems scattered throughout my lyric book. Back when everything was handwritten. lol. I was just always pulled to rereading this one a lot. Appreciate you.

Damien with an edge! I dig it.
It has a great rhythm and flow.
Thanks for sharing something you hold dear.
It’s not always easy. -
Damian your poem is as lyrical as it is deep. The idea of fear as a lover is a brilliant metaphor and I could really hear the melody of your words. Loved the creative flow here that took me into an exquisitely unfolding song.

What a splendid start of your poetic work, dear Damian! Fear as lover is an impressive and convincing personification. Like a lover, fear can accompany us until it becomes part of us. Your talent from a young age on is undeniable. Great work, my friend!

The darkness is shown, but it’s the kind of darkness that fills the silence and quietness after a sweep of pain. there is numbness and there is the teenage intense feelings and his mind, the mind that feels that no one understands him. This reminds me with Nirvana.
-
There are those who say we have to overcome our fear. I contend that it serves a purpose…and we move despite it. I will shamelessly admit that life has left me half terrified of my own shadow. But I’m still chugging along and doing the things. This was a brilliant piece. I’m not sure I would call it dark though. Maybe smudged around the edges? First poem? Damn, my friend…

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I do think fear has a purpose as well. I’m an overly cautious human myself, I don’t seek out confrontation, in fact I try to avoid it. But sometimes it is necessary to face one’s fears. Maybe a little grey around the edges. lol. It was definitely one of the first, if not number one. Appreciate you.

Ouch. There’s a lot rolled into this one. But the short pieces seem to be the most hard hitting, I’ve found

Nice. How many of us have written of such a view! Your version is wonderfully attentive without being overtly sexual. It’s about the simplicity of the beautiful construct of her anatomy. Admiration.
Well penned.

Chère F.,
My heart jumps up a little, when I see you’ve posted one of your beautiful writes.
And this one is a wake up call for me. I’ve never given much thought about my hands as is done here.
It reminds me to work harder in my allotment garden.
An allotment garden on the edge of Amsterdam? Some people have all the luck huh?Great poem.
I’ll be looking out for the next one.
Warm regards, Gus -
Beautifully penned, Fia. Into the book it belongs! Excellent write my friend. Nicely done. Appreciate you, cuz.

While the reader can not fail to get the message that both runs throughout and underpins this epic post, the penultimate and summative lines are surely to die for .. Write on sister F .. Neville 😎🌻👍

This is some vivid, intense scenery you painted here, Fia
Your words flowed very well for my eyes to follow and my mind to absorb.
Just lovely…. -
Magnificently sensual and breathtakingly passionate. I could feel this encounter unfold through your vivid and powerful telling that brought me into the depths of the hearts of these lovers. And that closing with the calloused hand withdrawing made for an ending to be remembered, my friend.
