• Exhaustion

One moment you are concious. The next half awake. One moment you are walking. The next you are in a lake.It feels like an endless loop.Of fatigue, exhaustion. As I watch the flowers grow.My eyelids slowly begin to fall.Because I spent my whole day...

Two hearts in the snow - a Michael A and Gus coop - from a ‘Same Lyrics’ challenge

Good day to all of you!In 2018, when ‘songwriters in the Kitchen’ was still proudly up and running, there was a ‘Same Lyrics’ challenge going on for Christmas. I vowed not to do challenges and I vowed not to...

    • The song is really beautiful, warm and joyous… as I was reading I could feel the melody and beat of it, I love the repeation and alternation between “I” and “you”, it’s like making vows between each other, a truly romantic and lovely love poem.

      • Chère L.,
Since I’m a quarter French, a typical French start.
        Hope this finds you well.

Thank you anyway very very much for the compliments.
I’ll pass half of them to Michael A who wrote the lyrics.

À same lyrics challenge, means that everyone who wants to be involved, writes a song to the same lyrics.
I believe that roughly 15 persons participated. But I’m not sure. It’s 7 years ago?!

Grateful for your read and listen!
        Warm regards, Gus

    • Beautiful work. Vivid and sharp.

      • Hoi Thomas,
        Hope this finds you well?!

        Thank you for the compliments.
And also on behalf of Michael A (north east England), very grateful for you listen!
        Kind regards, Gus

    • Chère C.,
Now nice to see you again.
I must have done something wrong, since the reply I typed was lost. Sorry for that.

Anyway, I am grateful for your listen. Also on behalf of Michael A of course.

      See you around!
      Warm regards, Gus

    • Omg I just listened to it. The music went so well with words. Bravo to you both

      • We thank you 1001 times for listening/ reading, and writing this kind comment, dear Fia!
        Elke and Gus

      • Chère F.,
Thank you so much for your nice comment.
And all the work you put into keeping Starsrite afloat.
I must be strict: I explicitly exclude AI, but if you want to sing the song, please let me know. And I’ll send you the backing.

In fact this is a demo. Far from perfect.
This is not a karaoke party but I’m open for all good natured attempts to have fun with music.

Thank you @Sappho for this wonderful poem.

To everyone reading or listening, warm regards, (Sappho and) Gus

    • We are deeply grateful for your listening/reading and commenting, dear Valupta!
      Elke & Gus

    • Chère V.,
You know how much I love your talents and writes, so your compliments mean a Lot to me. And Sappho too!

      Warm regards, Gus

    • Of course you have noticed that the mix left something to be desired and the voices were totally out of control, due to overuse and hay fever.
So I’ve re-recorded the singing and made a new mix.

A little bird told me that this one is not perfect, but yes, it’s a bit better.
      Hope you’ll like it too.
      Kind regards, Gus

      and here’s the new one:

    • I bow most reverently to Sappho ‘n Gus 🙏

Stunningly beautiful, You Two, in every sense of the word.
Artwork choice, title, and the Envelope Form in its abba rhyme-scheme (with spot-on and soft rhymes), work perfectly together, just as your skills harmonized in rendering this lovely, impacting virtual masterpiece in homage to Mother Earth’s ever dwindling beauty and life sustaining wonders.

Simply, an enthralling co-write … love it deeply!
      Thank you both! ⁓ Richard🖌

      Nits:
(Alas, Gus, your audio was not available, but I imagined how soul-touching it must be.
Check V1-L3, “get” may have been meant as “yet”. Final stanza, L1, should “plead” be “plea”?) 🤓

    • Chèr Rascal,
The first recording was out of control due to too much hay fever. I should never have posted it.
But a couple of days later it was better. Not perfect at all. But quite honestly, I think perfection is boring as hell.

Your nits are right, yet instead of get was the one I found too, but while singing made that mistake too. The other one I will check out. Sappho and I are non native speakers. So accidents will happen.

Also on behalf of Sappho: we’re grateful for your listen and read.

Listening is half of the fun. I hope:

      and here’s the new one:

      Kind regards, Sappho and Gus

    • wonderful collaboration! i enjoyed both the music and the captivating imagery.
the rhyming scheme leads to pleasant fluidity. ~ c

    • Chère C.,
      Hope this finds you well.

Thank you very much for the compliments. It’s always nice to see that people value what you’re doing.

And maybe one day we’ll do a coop too? I would really love that.

Also on behalf of Sappho, I thank you very much. We’re grateful for your listen.

      Kind regards, Gus

    • hello dearest Drieks this is one of your best in my opinion the climate out there is daunting… it worries me everyday I’m too old to change things in the eighties when I was young it was all about the money I don’t know if things have changed great write ❤️

      • Thank you Crimsin ❤️ I wrote most of this piece years ago and it saddens me that nothing has changed. If anything, it has gotten worse. I really appreciate your kind words.

    • The opening line= “Can we agree to disagree” I gave you head nod on that. This is so beautiful.

    • Thank you so much 💕
I hope to keep expressing myself through this medium for a long time. And I’ll never forget who to thank for it 😉

    • You’re writing some very strong pieces Lady that are truly depicting that status of our current world. Please continue pushing your powerful words Lady

    • Powerfully penned, Drieks. Excellent write, you’re a gifted lyricist my friend. Love the choice of Reggae to paint the background for your amazing words my friend. Such a truthful message about the state of the world. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Hey Damian! Can you believe I spent hours fitting these lyrics to punk rock??
And then my sister was listening to a reggae song on her phone and that changed my mind instantly. I personally love the way it sounds as it is now.

Thank you for your kind words Damian. I won’t forget your support.

    • Another strong piece, my friend. I am so glad Her introduced us. I listen to you often (I even read the words! — and they are alway truthful and necessary).

I am so glad your sister wasn’t listening to a polka; this song would have a very different vibe. Brrr!
