Good day to all of you!
In 2018, when ‘songwriters in the Kitchen’ was still proudly up and running, there was a ‘Same Lyrics’ challenge going on for Christmas. I vowed not to do challenges and I vowed not to do Christmas songs. Ahem, so:
This is my idea of a Christmas song (as antidote to Mariah’s) from the same lyrics challenge.

Please, don’t be shy and start another same lyrics thingy to answer this one. I would really like that.
Michael A’s lyrics:
Two Hearts in the Snow
When I looked out of my winter window
A shroud of snow covered the ground
And did I dream a robin by my winter window
Sang you were back in town?
Twelve months now, since you went away
Feel it like yesterday
I love you
I’ll write it in the snow
And draw a big heart around it
Just so you’ll know
So I walked out into the frozen landscape
To the fields where we’d once go
Where I’d etch those words and carve my snowy heart shape
If you passed by, I’m sure you’d know
I’d seize back time that’s slipped away
Oh if I could, this day
I love you
I’ll write it in the snow
And draw a big heart around it
Just so you’ll know
The snow was falling
Felt like calling
To Heaven with a prayer
But turning around
I was spellbound
You were kneeling there
Engraving in the Christmas snow
Ah, just to let me know
I love you
You wrote it in the snow
And drew a big heart around it
Just so I’d know
I love you
I wrote it in the snow
And drew a big heart around it
Just so you’d know
Two hearts in the snow
Two hearts in the snow
If the syrupy Christmas repertoire is beginning to annoy you, please don’t forget this festival of partying and mud rolling as a way to keep warm.
Enjoy!
Kind regards, Gus

The song is really beautiful, warm and joyous… as I was reading I could feel the melody and beat of it, I love the repeation and alternation between “I” and “you”, it’s like making vows between each other, a truly romantic and lovely love poem.
Chère L.,
Since I’m a quarter French, a typical French start.
Hope this finds you well.

Thank you anyway very very much for the compliments.
I’ll pass half of them to Michael A who wrote the lyrics.
À same lyrics challenge, means that everyone who wants to be involved, writes a song to the same lyrics.
I believe that roughly 15 persons participated. But I’m not sure. It’s 7 years ago?!
Grateful for your read and listen!
Warm regards, Gus

Chère C.,
Now nice to see you again.
I must have done something wrong, since the reply I typed was lost. Sorry for that.
Anyway, I am grateful for your listen. Also on behalf of Michael A of course.
See you around!
