Unrequited Love

A beautiful Angel crying tears of stars

Eyes the color of a starless night, stretched afar

To look at her weeping and not feel a tugging at your heart

Is to not know the force that holds the moon and earth apart

I’m simply at her mercy, caught in her heavenly web

Although I lie in wait in the asteroid belt, I’m no bebb

There is no grudge, only the pains of me needing her love

A love that’s unrequited but needed to lift me up above

Above, high enough to kiss and dry the leaking stars from her eyes

High enough to war with Apollo, her true love, as he moves about the sky

On long strands of curly black hair, I’ll climb my way up there

Me warring with Mars and Apollo, showing her who really cares

Mars, haha, he only lives for the battle and the hunt

Apollo speaks of love, but a chariot race is what he wants

With my faith in her and the gravity of our destinies

I bested Mars on all fronts and forced him to bend the knee

Apollo, the show off, driving his chariot of fired sun

Scoffed at her love, even denying it, making her cry just for fun

Hoof beats for heart beats, our race replenished each tear that she wept

Yet at the finish line my beautiful Angel refused me her love to be kept
