    The Red Jacket

In my attic, in a dust-Leadon trunk,I found an old red jacket. It bore wrinkles and smelled of mothballs. In one pocket, I found an old smile. But in the burdensome years since I last wore it I found it no longer...

    Like a Raven

Stress encircled her eyes. When any hope was hopelessand light-years away, she opened her dresser drawer. Beneath lengthypharmacy referralsand exponential credit card billsthe black metal trigger resembledthe color of a raven. At the speed of lightand with enough energyto cross the expanse of...

    War is Not for Lovers

War is Not for Lovers Over the top my beautiful boys,    the sergeant major cried .. Think of your mother or your sweetheart and remember them, when thunder cracks around your head and fear gnaws at your insides    and Tommy, he did just that .. He remembered her hand, in...

    • This is heartbreaking. Never to return to the one you love.

      • Sadly, it happened at least 22 million times between 1914 & 1918 .. but thanks for the positive nod Fia .. AGT’s Neville 🌻👍

    • Powerfully penned, Neville. Excellent storytelling my friend. Some never learn it seems. Appreciate you.

    • Tremendous. Powerful work, my friend.

    • Please excuse this late response to your heart-warming and otherwise encouraging review comments for which I am seriously very grateful .. Kind regards and wishing you and yours all the very best of All Good Things, Neville 😎🌻👍

    • War is not for lovers, nor for any real human… Unfortunately even when you don’t want to fight, sometimes there is no other option. sadly… it’s the people who get the bad consequence while the ones in power stay in power, greed… greed and more greed… their ego seems never to be filled, and I don’t believe these kind of people will learn anything, because they don’t look to this as “mistake”. Still, good peaceful coffee morning ☕☕ dearest Neville ✨🌻

    • Of course, You are absolutely right & I know no one who know this for real more than You .. I am raising my extra large mug of strongest black coffee to You write now my dearest G .. 😎💛🌻⭐🌟☕☕👍

    The Shadow of You

The Shadow of You   Sitting here thinking, drinking my Black and Tan contemplating the stormy motion I see in shadows   *****   Yes, it’s dark in there but, occasionally you can see different shades of black mixing with greys and an undercurrent of blue. Sometimes, usually when you least expect it,...

    • Powerful work. I felt this to the core of me.

    • This is a very beautiful work, my friend. I love your, “unruly midnight moon,” and there are so many other lines that touched me deeply; if I tried to mention them here I might as well write every line.

    • Someone told me that to describe the feelings within shadow was a testament to writing good poetry. I don’t know about that, but I admit, I love this poem, the flow of it, and that you saw and felt it is warmly appreciated. I knew an artist friend who drew scenes in pencil. She had one piece, a landscape, done in black pencil that I swear when you looked at it deeply, you could see blue streaks flow in it. Some of that experience of seeing this piece of art is what I tried to capture in this poem and where that line: “…kaleidoscope of greys” came from.

Mary, thank you, your visits and comments mean a lot to me.

    • FlatDaddy, it thrills me that you were touched by this poem. You might be surprised to know that unruly moon gets really rambunctious at midnight. Then again, we are the same age, so you probably know all about unruly moons. At any rate I truly welcome your visit and thanks for a great comment (and message).

Love In The Time Of Katrina II

Love in the Time of Katrina II     The air was stagnate with humidity, the pines and oaks stood stoically in the stillness and Medea fell hard for Jason.   Betrayal like the eye of Katrina, was first calm until the wind changed, spread, increased, intensified. Medea gave everything, including her brothers, so Jason could flee with...
