Footsteps
crackle of grass
splintering of floorboards
Falling through rocks
footprints
fading in the wet sand
as we look back
when that tide rushed in
pictures in my mind
your footprints left behind
photos in old albums
I see the many steps we took together
The years we climbed
those mountains of life
sometimes so very blind
footprints
pictures on that sand
Oh if we could just stop
the waves of life
from erasing these days
we leave so terribly behind
footprints of life
footprints in my mind
with changes today written

Life can be a sad experience later in life. The loss of a spouse hurts so bad and memories become the new reality. This is well told, Julie.

Hi thanks very much Neville !
The crackle, the falling, the fading footprints -this poem captures the fleeting passage of time and memory with such honesty and quiet, aching beauty.
Oh wow thanks so much I appreciate
Well written, Julie. Not too heavy and not fluff. It sets a wonderful tone and soothes the reader as they progress through it. Awesome results.
This brought back many poignant memories, thank you.
