Letter To The Future

Thank you for writing me once more.
I know we’ve grown older.
Which opened a door,

Surely life has been really rough.
But you seem to be still very tough.
Thank you for your words.

Yes,the pain hurt a lot.
I went through hell and back.
I still believe in love and fairytales.

And one day,we’ll write our own.
A story where nobody is hurt.
And everyone is happy.

But you already did that,didn’t you?
I knew we’ll grow to have great talent one day.
Despite the pain at night and day.

Alas,I still feel lonely at night.
Specifically on my bed.
I can’t quite tell why.

Could be due to the tears I shed.
And I wondered,when will we get wed?
Tell me,oh future me.

Did we find a man as nice as can be?
Just like we always dreamt of.
The one can’t sleep love.

That haunted us all this time.
No,you are not crazy.
But your features are mine.

Tell me,please.
Are we stil holding on?
Does the past still haunt us?

Are we still alive?
I always thought I would die by 18.
Or maybe 25.

We wanted freedom,so we ran towards the light.
And we slept with thoughts through the night.
Thoughts such as,will I ever find the one?

Nowadays,the moon is my number one.
The moon is the one I seeked all that time.
It listens,doesn’t judge me.

And brings me to cloud nine.
Past me,I hope you know.
You’ll find someone and be as bright as a sun.

You just have to be patient.
Though I know you already heard all of that.
Patient is not the right word,more like hopeful.

I will make sure to maintain our hope.
As our lives and mental health develop.
I won’t ever give up on your thoughts and dreams.

I will try and protect you,past me.
I will hold onto your promise,future me.
Let us spread our wings slowly and flee.
