Alphabet Boy

You keep teaching me new words.
Spell the alphabet just for me.
We’ve been together for a while now.

But it feels like you don’t know me.
Alphabet boy,you spell the A’s.
Every little thing he says.

He thinks that apples are good apologies.
Well,it’s not.
I hope soon his apples rot.

And he learns his lesson fast.
Butterscotch and bubblegum are now bittersweet to me.
Tell me,are you a teacher to me?

You say I am your doll.
And you keep teaching me new words.
Recite the alphabet,he says.

And this nasty game he plays.
But at the end,you aren’t the prince of the playground.
You aren’t the best around.

You try to pronounce the alphabet.
But are you smarter than me now?
He keeps trying to teach me.

No matter when,where or how.
The ABC’s soon pile up.
And the empty excuses he dug.

Sure,you won the spelling bee.
But are you really smarter than me?
When you are around,you aim paper airplanes.

Little prince of the playground.
But let me say this,I am not a little kid.
Spell my name on the fridge,spell the ABC’s.

And screw the spelling bee.
You’re the prince of the playground,little alphabet boy.
But to you,I am just a toy.

You built me up like building blocks.
Just as easily you can put me down.
You can crush my candycane.

But I won’t cry,no.
I won’t cry for you – not for anyone.
You should I know I am not a little kid.

All you want me to do ever is smile,accept it and sit.
Watch me as I throw a fit.
You may have won,but are you smarter than me?

Do the ABC’s even mean anything anymore?
Still I try to spell.
So I can defeat myself well.

Use them finally with a fearless soul.
And ABC’s will make me feel foul.
Am I still just a kid to you?
