I stand at the gates
waving my sign that I made
as they hurl their insults
calling me things that I ain’t
I’m not left or right
I’m not here to save the planet
or trying to change anyone’s mind
I just don’t want to hate my neighbors
or see anyone suffering
why don’t they feel the same?
tired of seeing children starving
parents ripped from their homes
they call me the enemy
for calling out their hurt
I’m not trying to be a soldier
they are far better than me
not trying be a politician
they are far too worthless to society
I’m not a historian or scientist
I’m not even that smart
not trying to be the judge and jury
but I do know right from wrong
maybe my sign will be ignored
and my pleads laughed off
holding the world record
for talking to a wall
but I want to see a better day
it doesn’t even need to be perfect
just a day where we can agree
and we all get opportunities
finding common ground
is that too much to ask?
To find a common ground is difficult. If we all agree on one thing. There will be several things to destroy it. This is thought provoking
I think people actually agree on most things it’s just those who want to manipulate that make us think otherwise.
