Summary:
This song always reminded me of covid. I used to play it all the time to help get me through many long days .

Inspired by: Third Eye Blind – Losing a Whole Year

I turn on the news
it’s another day of the same ol’ same
a tragic shooting, and feel good story
but the bottom says a disease is spreading
seems like every couple years I hear that line
so I pay it no mind
going to work and it’s rather hectic
trying to stock shelves at a supermarket
people are in full blown panic
knocking each other over a roll of toilet paper

it was one whole year
yes, one whole year
yup, one whole year
of pure fucking hell!

they say don’t go outside or you’ll die
but for me that doesn’t apply
guess I’m “essential”
feels more like sacrificial
wearing a mask
and putting on way too much sanitizer
which is like what’s the point in a red state?
but it’s ok, it’s alright
least I got a sign that says I’m a hero
and people telling me thanks for my service
like I’m in the army or something
if they really want to thank me
how about staying the fuck home!?

it was one whole year
yes, one whole year
yup, one whole year
of pure fucking hell!

wish I could go to a concert
or eat out like a normal person
I love my wife
but if she makes me wash the groceries again
it’s not gonna be pretty
finally they say they got a vaccine
which nobody seems to want to take
and then there’s me
who just about killed an old lady
to get in the front of the line
even called up a friend in the medical field
told her we should hang out sometime
and don’t forget the needle!

      • Definitely not the best of times. The years after for me were tough due to a snow ball of issues. But there was a lot that just was so weird I can’t help but laugh.

Thanks for the read. Much appreciated.
