Summary:
I'm limping and exhausted, but I stumbled across the finish line. This concludes my Poetry Month entries. I'm gonna need a minute to regroup, y'all...

we were young once

in years – yes

but beyond that…

in ways you cannot quantify

a youth borne of possibility

maybes still on the horizon

with wide open eyes

taking chances…

for the sheer joy of doing

because of the challenge it represented…

the suspicion…

it had never before been tried

sufficient reason for the doing

~~~
we were ancient once
forget about age
this is so much deeper
no beginning…no end
firm in the belief – we are tiny beings
but part of something enormous
a single breathing entity among many
each destined for greatness
knowing our movements cause ripples
in the great pond of the cosmos
creating kaleidoscopic patterns
where every shade and hue is needed
both the vibrant and the subtle
~~~

we were gorgeous once

never mind the physical

surface level is too shallow

we wore a more radiant beauty

glowing from within

casting glorious features…

across our fragile skins

when minds grew – and hearts followed

because we knew…

we’re always more vital…

more blindingly bright…

when viewed through the spirit’s eyes

~~~
we were giants once
not in stature…
but in the potential we harbored
carefully mapping its dimensions
not thinking about impossibility
because it didn’t yet exist
a construct not yet imagined
no thoughts of “I can’t do that”
we explored – until we succeeded
or found another path
~~~

we were all of that

and more

we still are

we’ve only forgotten

    1. Chère W.,
      Maybe it’s the ‘other’ language, but it never dawned on me that the end was weighing so heavy on your shoulders.
      What I read from you has a slightly quirky (which is what I am loooking for) tone but other than that a quiet trust of steady quality.

      To put it in simpler words:
      You could have fooled me anytime!
      So, go ahead. Lick your wounds, while I put my warm non-demanding hand on your shoulder.
      You’ll be all right!
      You’ll be all right!
      And I’ll be there welcoming you back. We all will be.
      Honestly?
      Honestly!
      Warm greetings, Gus

      • I was holding my own in the poetry month challenge and then about halfway through the month, life started throwing curve balls at me. Got a lot harder at that point. I tried to keep up with commenting and supporting, as well as fulfilling my commitment to the challenge. In the end I just put all my energy into writing each poem and saving comments and responses for later. Gonna take me a hot minute to get caught up, but I made it. Thank you, Gus 😊

    2. Powerfully penned, Willow. Another excellent write with thought provoking layers of depth my friend. I don’t think you limped across the finish line at all, I think you ended on a strong note, with 30 consecutive days of amazing work. Take a bow.. you’ve earned it. Appreciate you.

      • I’m afraid if I bow, I might fall over and then I’ll be napping quietly in the corner. 😂 The act of writing daily is never the hard part for me. It’s posting every day that bites my ass. I write all the time but nobody see it. Initially I wasn’t going to take part, but Fia was so excited about it that it was contagious, so I jumped in. And we made it! 🙌 Thank you, my friend

    3. Excellent. This poem of yours is one of the reasons I stay here. For the quality and the inspiration. This may be the end of the month, but you are solidly still on the journey. We are rewarded every time you post something new. Thanks for being here.
