Looking in, looking out
tell me, what love’s about

Counting all the stars, missing one
where is it, where’s it gone

And you know I miss you
it’s all I do, think of you
remembering your touch, gentle wind
coming and going, looking in

Looking out, towards the sky
this night whispers goodbye

Someone to hold me
once maybe more
someone to tell me
it’s my world

Your breath against my skin, let me in
your rising breasts, against my chest
Only a dream, my heart tells lies
I lay alone, under Orion skies

The air has a chill, cool, cool skin
remembering, thinking, let me in

Someday, our fires will blow cold
and all of our heat, now just old
Still not to know what love’s about
still at the window, looking out

Pretend it’s not, a knock
from a branch and the wind
Come, come on in
Opens the door
to no one, again.

    1. There’s nothing worse than experiencing the heartache that comes with the distance from someone you love so much. I’m sure she’ll find a way to get back again soon. You’re too good of a guy. She’s probably writing a poem about the same thing from her viewpoint. 🙂

If this doesn’t relate to you and adel, disregard.

    2. Powerfully penned, Mark. Another excellent write with words full longing my friend. Distance makes the heart grow fonder or so the old saying goes. Amazing read as always. Appreciate you.
