Summary:
Inspired by a picture I took of Del...

A screened porch, a chair
my lover, braiding her hair

She sits nude, catching glimpses
from the curious sun
Her eyes stealing the gold
from Heaven’s best trinket

Why would I value that mere ball
when with her, I have it all
When with her, I can control
Heaven and Earth
as Hell is but a rumor
farthest from this moment
since she is beyond all low light

She wears a halo about her
an aura, of a pure yellow veil
woven by angels
wrapping one of their own

No, I shall not enter
upon her moment
I will admire from here
I’ve set myself aside
within the corner of a shadow
smiling like a grateful audience

I am the grand witness
to something so rare
An angel, resting here
upon my porch, my chair
Bathing in sunlight
and braiding her hair.
