Summary:
Song Lyrics Idea.

Candlelight flickers against a dark ceiling
Another tequila shot with a beer backer
Writing blunt words forecasting a feeling
This ink that stains the page like lacquer

Miserable vibes eating from the inside out
Spiraling deeper into famine and drought

Penning poetry in the chord of D minor
Reflecting what’s going on in this fragile heart
Always the opening act to the headliner
Knowing who’s real or just acting the part

Different kind of cat running through lives
An open book with a stubborn streak
When exposed to love the mind thrives
Looking for hope when times are bleak

Reading between the lines revealed a lie
Instead of minding their business they pry

Penning poetry in the chord of D minor
Reflecting what’s going on in this fragile heart
Always the opening act to the headliner
Knowing who’s real or just acting the part

    1. hello dearest Damian that refrain about not knowing whose real and being an opening for the headliner really struck my I could feel the emotion there this is powerful 💕

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Brenda. So glad you enjoyed the write my friend. I liked those lines a lot as well. I always have lines in writes, that I like a lot. lol. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    2. I read this a few times.
      Here’s my take:

The opening act warms up the crowd. The opening act is the first lady behind the President. The opening act is the backbone, the Hail Mary. The opening act is the most important part of any show. You guarantee that shit runs smoothly. There may not be as much glory being the opening act, but without you, there is no show.

You are genuine. That’s what matters.

    3. I’ve been the opening act for a lot of bands from the 70’s. I like the way you used it in this. Very clever and a bit sad.

      Nice writing, Damian.
