Alone with his sinners mentality
Trying to tame the flames inside
Little whispers destroying reality
Rebellion never said just implied
Going in circles without direction
Lack of balance forcing him to crawl
Star-crossed lovers fear rejection
Living in a bottle waiting for the fall
These tired ideas are falling short
Seconds fade from the hourglass
Clear reflections over time distort
Still hoping for this storm to pass
Going in circles without direction
Lack of balance forcing him to crawl
Star-crossed lovers fear rejection
Living in a bottle waiting for the fall

This feels like someone trapped in a loop of self-destruction and awareness at the same time—aware enough to see the patterns, but not yet able to break them. The repeated stanza reinforces that sense of circling, like the mind replaying the same thoughts over and over.
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Thomas. So glad you connected with the write my friend. You hit the nail on the head brother. Circles and patterns are all throughout this world. Or maybe it’s being a former addict that I’m much more aware of them. Appreciate you.

Damian, this is fiery in its passionate portrayal of two people joined by the bottle and waiting for the fall. Loved the Bukowski, feel of this and how you made this in your own poetic oyster. The rhythm here really took me into the lives of these lovers and showed me the truth of their ill fated love. I just love how you took me there and I felt like I was seeing this like a film from long ago. Poignant and powerfully penned my friend. Appreciate you.
John
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, John. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That’s stellar company to be mentioned in the same breath as Bukowski. Really glad that you enjoyed the ink brother. Appreciate you.

I can feel the beat of a drum during this reading. It’s a steady pace of determination. We are aware of our sins even as we fall to them. Because it takes away the expanse of silence, perhaps.
Great write, Damian.
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mark. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Makes sense to me, being as I don’t count syllables. I write to a beat in my head, although my wife thinks it’s my heartbeat that I write to. She has a Bachelors in music so who am I to disagree with her. lol. Appreciate you.

I kept hoping my comment would eventually show up,but it’s apparently gone for good. So I’m back to comment again. (Apologies if it does show up someday and you’re double tapped.)
The way you touch on things, but don’t dwell on them feels like a subtle awareness occurring in an almost desperate situation. That repeated stanza brings it full circle. Any chance this might land on the album, brother?
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It still might show up, that happened to me on someones write before. lol. Always enjoy reading your analysis, sis. This one might end up on the album for sure. I’m feeling possibly spoken word though. We’ll see..in the future. Appreciate you.
