    • Chère C.,
How can you be so productive and, at the same time, be so consistent in quality?
Looks like I enjoy everything you write.
Just a note from the far away fanclub.
      Warm regards, Gus

    • Aww, no sad bittersweet stuff!
Okay, this is good and it hits the heart in the center. I feel it, through your words.
      Have some great holidays Crims!

    • Powerfully penned, Brenda. Excellent write my friend. Appreciate you.

    • This write has a gentle sting to it.
You do both so well. Gentle and sting.
I love when you blend Brenda.
Just the right amount of bittersweet.

      Merry Christmas!

Singing 'Fairytale of New York' in an Empty Karaoke Bar

As the evening stretches beyond skyscrapers sunset cracks windows and voices, midnight lies as a would-be lover counting her footsteps across Brooklyn Bridge to an anonymous apartment, where she imagines waking to her lipstick on his coffee cup   Washing machine skies spin skeins of colour red always bleeds into the blue and JFK...

    • Dear R,

The visual and imagined images are outstanding in this piece. For me, there such a sense of coping with life especially at Christmas. You incorporate iconic structures of NY throughout giving this an energetic current running underneath the words from start to finish. I really enjoyed seeing the people, appreciating the buildings and mostly the confessional admission within the piece. Fab write. H🌷

      • As someone once sang, it’s been a good year for the roses. Heart upon heart, life below humility, Christmas 2025 once seemed a distance away. It was only true friendship & family who drove my sleigh. Maybe, one day, I will become a poem. Huge Welsh hugs and thanks H. x

    • The opening catching one’s imagination as you tell us a story through poetry. I enjoyed this.

    • Well now, this is quite a large gift for us readers. Definitely weighty but not overdone. It brings so much to light, as you build the “Blade Runner” scenery throughout.
really good stuff, Rob. A hell of an offering for the holidays.

      • Never considered the blade runner angle and this is why I always hope to submit on poetry sites. Everyone reads their own perspective. Thank you Mark.

A thumbs up from the Netherlands.
And what do the world famous Macs says?
      I’m loving it.
Your writes I mean. I’m not eating the Macs.
I hope your Tuesday will be marvellous, Gus

    • “Some sentences arrive already wounded” is a powerful line. I really appreciated how you treat silence and density as material, not absence.

    • This is beautiful, and it felt peaceful in its write.

      • Thanks Fia. It was from the deep of my heart that I wrote it to our fellow poet Styxian. His words made me happy so I got inspired to write some and offer them to him.

    • Beautifully penned, PAR. Such a heartfelt tribute to Mark (Styxian) my friend. He’s a class act and a brilliant writer who always takes the time to comment words of praise and positivity to members of this community. Nicely done my brother. You never cease to amaze. Appreciate you.

    • A given stone will turn to a polished shine when kept tightly in the palm.
It’s something solid to keep us mindful and kinships and the strength of that.
I am a very down to earth person. I actually do have a few rocks that I picked up from somewhere, because they caught my eye.
I enjoy your writing a great deal, Paulo. It is maturely done, strong in its messages. That is why I bother to join writing sites; to find and read quality material that will inspire me to keep my own motivation going.
Thank you for this, and for your contributions of writing.

    • This is as amazing tribute. Mark was touched by this. I remember him calling me and telling me about this write.
I think he forgets how inspiring he is with his writes and comments.
It’s awesome when he gets a reminder!

      Merry Christmas 🎄!
