Each our own battles distract from another’s. Thank you for sharing yours to deflate the the imagined importance of mine. 🌼

Thank you so much for reading and sharing your opinion in your kind comment, Joe!
In the beginning I put much effort in hiding my disease and pretending that nothing was wrong. I felt so ashamed! Meanwhile I know that there is nothing shameful about disability and dependency. As you say, everyone has to carry their backpack containing good and bad things with the purpose to teach us a lesson

Wow Tim! I had never expected to read such a great and understanding comment to my writing! Of course I have my struggles with my condition. But I am also convinced that every problem presents us learning tasks. When we accept that challenge, we will be stronger and maybe a little wiser. To go through life with an open heart and lots of gratitude for all the wonders and blessings all around us was one of the lessons I have learned. And – everyone has their struggles and fights. Suffering is no competition. In the end, aren’t we all walking each other home?

I wish that I could somehow quench the flames that torment you, if only for a few hours…💞
and often thereafter

Powerfully penned, Elke. A very clever write my friend, it kinda shows that humans never seem to learn. Excellent work, with a great message. Appreciate you.

Interesting take on pandemics. They certainly were not handled very well, but the vaccine for the modern one was was handed out fairly, in general. It was new territory so mistakes were made. I got all my shots and am glad of it. I do agree that there were too many restrictions put on the public at least here in the US.
This piece really made me feel like I was sitting there with the two ‘women’. You certainly have a talented pen Elke. To be transported to the moment you describe is really a rare and wonderful talent. I’m happy the you share it with us. I’d be happy to slip and fall in your direction. 😉 💙 -
You are a very good storyteller. To board people in their own homes to prevent the spread …yeah history did repeat itself with that. The difference is that people spoke online and got used to that, then speaking face to face. Thought-provoking piece.

Thank you so much for your kind and supportive comment dear Fià! There are even more parallels: in times of the plague, many people tried to overcome their helplessness and desperation by celebrating hilariously on graveyards and other scary places. On these occasions people used to wear facial masks!

A pleasant sweat pushes through my pores as I read this.
It’s so sensual, but so much more too.
As you know, the mind is the most erotic organ.
Nice job Elke. Thanks. -
