Beloved Guinevere!
Day steps back and bows before the queen of the night. The canopy of the heavens has already wrapped itself in its star-studded cloak. Everything is quiet; only the wind whistles around the cold, stone walls of Camelot. I, too, am completely calm and confident.
Tomorrow, when the blushing sun frees itself from Morpheus’s arms, I will face the judgment of God demanded by the King to prove our innocence and restore your honor to its accustomed brilliance.
When we first looked into each other’s eyes, it was as if a magical force pulled our souls together. It was a force of nature to which we were helplessly surrendered. We are pure of all guilt. God, the creator of all things, created us as a dual unity. One soul walking through this earthly existence in two bodies.
Love of my life, you know that I am faithfully devoted to King Arthur, your husband, and would lay down my life for him at any moment. What we have experienced and still experience lies beyond our responsibility. It is God’s will. We must not act contrary to divine natural laws. Our souls follow the natural order when they strive toward one another. But since a sacred union always means a unity of body, mind, and soul, we also had to allow our bodies to give in to the mystical attraction between us and become one.
Ah, what bliss when our lips touched! Like two dying of thirst in the desert, finally allowed to refresh themselves at a sparkling silver spring! And soon it was no longer possible to tell whether it was my fingers darting across your skin like nimble insects, or if it was the other way around. We wove ourselves into a single creature with four arms and four legs to explore our bodies and imprint the cartography of our skin into memory for all eternity. I will never forget the delicious moments when you undressed and, without a moment’s hesitation, positioned yourself upon my lap. Like a proud Amazon on her warhorse, with long, loose hair playing around your marble-white breast like a golden waterfall, you galloped across our bed. Spurred on by your lustful moans—which at first recalled the sweet purring of a little kitten, but soon swelled into the dark, throaty roar of a lion—we charged toward ecstasy. Faster and faster, wilder and wilder our ride became, until high above us a bright star exploded, bathing our heated bodies in a shower of spraying sparks. At last, we merged once more into our original unity of body, mind, and soul.
At dawn, I will emerge victorious from the duel, so that God’s judgment will also fall in our favor. Of this I am entirely certain. For God holds His protective hand over all true lovers, and thus over us as well.
In eternal love,
Your Lancelot
