      खारा

      Poetry by Dead Men

poetry by dead men my feet were crossed within his lap as he read to me poetry by dead men. i listened with awed intent as the atmosphere around me slipped into oblivion, as the spine of books crackled upon opening spilling with pages in sepia tones spoken...

      • My one and only reply. Thank you most kindly, Damian. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

      • Kelly, Kelly, Kelly!!!
A huge 💥CONGRATULATIONS💥 to you on your excellent Win! 🏆

No one paints wondrously vivid, deeply emotional, metaphorically enthralling Free Verse imagery more magically brilliant, via the endlessly colored medium of creative articulation ⁓ than YOU!
And, no one’s poetry excites and enthralls my depths more thoroughly than Yours. You’re a True Master Poetess – in every sense of the words. I’ve always enviously admired your incomparably original skills with a pen.

Your first two verses alone made of me a living, breathing voyeur to the captivating ambiance and verisimilitude in your moment’s reality … I mean, truly, I was there ~ even when the snow began silently falling.

I couldn’t be prouder of and happier for you, Dear Kelly, always … hugs! ⁓ Richard🖌

      • You and I go back quite a way from posting on the WC together …that’s what makes this review even dearer to me! And here it is, Thanksgiving morning…and here I am giving thanks for you! xo

        • I, too, have always been thankful for You, Kelly 🍷

I joined the Café in 2005 as Rascal, and rejoined in 2017 as Richard, and it was then (9-years past) we shared our first poems, and I’ve been smitten ever since.✨

      • Wowzers! This was great!

      • “my heart became a voyager to the past”

Some writers don’t need (don’t use) huge words to try and hide their mediocre poetry with glossy accessories. You don’t.
You are incredibly effective talking to the reader in a language we all can follow fluidly. That is skill. You have it.
Truly rewarding reading your material every time.

      • I was anxious for your review. I am now wearing the smile you gave me! Thank you!

      • There’s a quiet enchantment here—how the simple act of listening becomes a journey, a communion with voices long gone. I love how the snowfall mirrors the unfolding of the words, each line falling gently yet leaving a lasting trace. The poem makes memory, literature, and presence feel alive at once…..Great to see you here.

      • Thank you, Thomas. Your insight into my writing this is quite complimentary. So kind, indeed!

      • The interesting thing about this one to me, is that there are people who call themselves “of faith” and use the rhetoric but don’t walk the walk. I was reminded of so many of those people…especially in the current atmosphere of the world…they speak without real understanding and definitely no faith. As a man of faith now, I imagine you recognize the difference. As one who hadn’t come to that place yet, I’m not surprised you still called it out. You always take me somewhere with your pieces…often on a rant. This one is no exception, my friend

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. The phrase has been bastardized for sure, by those who choose to use it for personal gain, whether it be financial or merely for social status. Some treat it like it’s something that looks good on their Resume. Yeah, I see the difference for sure. lol. The younger me would have never thought I’d arrive at this conclusion. I’ve always called things out, somethings are a constant in my life I guess. Thanks for the killer commentary. Appreciate you.

          Damian

      • Powerful work. You nailed it.

      • As someone who lived under violence of many types for years, l can understand your intense words and feelings, for me I couldn’t lose my Faith at any circumstances, my belief is that the humans must believe in something( I’m not speaking only religiously) so they can move on in life without being completely lost.

        “the body is a temple
        and we all abuse it”

I was touched by these lines, many many times we are not treating ourselves kindly. This poem is touching. Thank You my friend 💖

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Light. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. That was deep my friend, but beautifully stated. I agree without faith of any sort (not limited only to religion) humans easily become completely lost. Sorry you had to go through violence my friend, you’re a survivor and a gifted poetess whose words burn brightly with positive energy.

That’s one of my favorites lines as well. I concur we don’t always treat ourselves kindly. I’m glad you enjoyed the write. Appreciate you.

          Damian

          • And Thank You for your heartfelt and positive response 🤍 I’m glad You could find your way out and started a new journey where there is peace and comfort, may your days be filled with joy and Light💕😊 🕊️🙏🏻

      Love Sonnet LXIX

Love Sonnet LXIX   Love isn’t always on time, sometimes it travels back country roads, avoiding ruts and detours, and often, gets lost on unmarked lanes of dead   ends. And then, then you come across an open field filled with Blue Bells and Poppies, swaying to African...

      • It comes exactly when it means to. Sometimes when we’re not looking. Beautiful poem

        • Exactly, Willow. And, I think too, this “unexpected love” is or becomes the love of your life!! Thanks for your kind words, Willow, you and they are much appreciated.

      • Both beautiful and brilliant… and when it’s unexpected it’s more fulfilling and overwhelming… and… right.
