I am old school. Grew into a love of poetry because of my interaction with the Beat poets. Sexton, Plath, Ginsberg, Ferlinghetti, O’Hara and others.
This is confessional style poetry like Sexton, Plath, Levertov and others.
I really felt this one.

It does feel confessional in the way that poets dream about life & love, with a tenderness and unabashed desire both calm & brave. It is what the artform exists for.

I’m a romantic who believes the words of Cervantes
Too much sanity may be madness — and maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be!” ― Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Don Quixote

This poem feels like a quiet stream of thought turning into a river of longing. I love how it moves between vulnerability and hope–questions of love, time, and becoming a better self flow together with such tender honesty.

Joe, amigo what a write!
It felt like wearing an old comfy shirt. I love that line. It’s so true. Personally when it comes to relationships I think comfortable is underrated. Yes, we want to be desired and have great chemistry, but comfort is real.
It also means you feel safe. So important for love
Beautifully written

Wistufl, whimsical and a conflict of emotions battling within this stunning piece. The imagery is on full throttle.

Sort of like a dissention among the ranks vibe. This does have a witchy, almost horror scented feel to it. Nice!

This poem envelops me in its grip.
Sadness, shame, discord…I feel this way sometimes…jokes won’t humor me, pleasantries are the opposite of what I need.
Really strong, strong write.

Powerfully penned, Willow. Into the book it belongs! Excellent write my friend, I felt this one. Appreciate you.

Amazing, Willow. You keep impressing me with lines like, “slicing pieces off yesterday to feed me.” So strong and beautiful simultaneously. Keep it up. Please. And thanks for the audio version; you know I can’t help but gravitate to that. It is so well done.

I’ve been slowly making spoken versions of many of my pieces. Just takes more time and energy than I currently have to spare. Thank you so much 😊
-
Understood; I am doing the same while coping with bizzare-o-ness in my own world. But that’s okay, I get through with little tidbits of kindness from friends like you.

There can be so many things that terrorize us. The worst is regrets of the past that stay with us. That haunt us in our sleep or just won’t let us sleep.
Getting rid of those demons can be a long, agonizing and scary process.
Really sharp personification here.
