    • Your writing here sinks deeper than I even knew possible. I have no worthy words of comfort. Only, hang in there, my friend, if you can. And if writing it out helps, keep them coming! We are here for you. A soulful write all of us can relate to in some way or another.

      • Thank you also..just need to release some emotions..writing helps me release dark thoughts..I appreciate you taking time to comment

  • pluribus

The de facto US national motto "E pluribus unum" (Out of many, one) was changed by Congress in 1956 to the official 'In God We Trust'.Laughable that God's name is printed on all US currency when the Bible tells...

      • Thanks Damian.

I’m not American or a believer in God but the change in motto reflects the change in America.A country that once accepted the hungry, the tired, the persecuted now turns it’s back on them…..bet if they were billionaires they’d be welcomed with open arms.
        👍

        • Completely agree with you my friend. It almost foreshadows the Christian Nationalist movement going on in this country right now. America has turned heel. To use pro wrestling lingo. Appreciate you.

    • Great piece Peter. Well researched and enlightening.

    Light and Shadow

When she walks on by that is beautiful. With something about her, I cannot ignore. My eyes follow her blinklessly into blinding light. With something about her, I can gaze. Her perfect form eclipses the sunlight, and I am cast...

    • We as humans should care about the environment and each other but it seems that caring about the environment and each other is not our priority. It’s a shame.

    • Great polemic no doubt regarding the recent US attack on Venezuela.
I can’t accept that the bulk of American citizens would still vote for Trump and his Court Jesters.
To be fair, Trump is only the puppet. The puppet masters are the unelected, neo fascist multinational corporations running all western democracies.

      • While I agree the unelected neo facists are the corporations running the western democracy and they feed the war machine because it generates a ton of money for themselves and their ppl..I do worry there are still many Americans that will support trump and his jesters no matter what..no matter what actions or evidence is presented to them their opinions dont change..I don’t know what the tipping scale is for Trump supporters but I dont think we are there..unfortunately..its scary knowing more chaos lies ahead

    • Politics aside, this is a well written poem with great flow and a spot on message. I can sense your urgency within it. But you didn’t lose control. Well done.

  • Your American Flag Was Made In China

The key to paradise was made in China. 30% of the worlds manufacturing is made in China as of 2023.Second is the United States at only 15%.Here are the reasons why:Lower WagesChinese LaborNo UnionsA Massive Labor PoolHorrible working conditionsGovernmental...

    • If we could see all the corruption in the world, the earth would light up like a night sky with a million stars. You did such a incredible and detailed analysis here, VOI. Great work.

    • The problem isn’t China it’s us….the consumer that buys their products.
Before China there was Japan and after China there will be others for multinational corporations to plunder and exploit and we will continue to buy from them
      Great thought provoking write.

      • You’re correct. The US always had others making cheaper, and or better made products. From the 1970’s forward, many of our products were made overseas. Thanks Pete.

    • Powerfully penned, Keith. Excellent write my friend. Appreciate you.

    • Can we stop buying what is presented to us cheaply. Prices go up and we are stuck in the hamster wheel of wanting to do right but it’s often not.

      • Of course not. It’s the CEO’s of these firms not wanting to pay American workers cause we want more then minimum wage and representation through the unions. I mean why not! Thanks Fia.

    • I remember seeing a video where someone took a MAGA hat and turned it around to show it was made in China…which pretty much sums up the issue. Take as much as possible, give back as little as possible and never worry about the other guy. The humanity of the world has become devalued. Brilliant piece

      • HA! Love it! That’s great. People today worry about their own hides and nothing more. Each year it continues to become more & more of a problem where the values of people in general are at the lowest common denominator. Thanks Willow.

    • Good work here. Plain, clear, brief, and to the point. It puts all we do in perspective regarding manufacturing and consumption. There are many causes: corruption, greed, graft, poverty, laziness, stupidity, sickness, mental illness, and lack of education are the prime movers. Mix and match and you get governments — meaning the PEOPLE who govern –that are corrupt, uncaring, inefficient, underfunded, overwhelmed, and driven by combinations of all those causes I mentioned. What do you get? Man’s inhumanity to man, our oldest and most practised activity.

This is a nice piece, well said.
