Cruise Control

Summary:
Coasting through life on borrowed time. Do we challenge it, or do we accept the defeat that we only live to die instead of dying to live?

My mind is moving slow—

but life is too fast.

One hand on the wheel,

a lead foot on the gas.

No destination in sight,

in my rear view is the past.

I’m in a race against time,

and so far i’m coming in last.

Life’s moments are so precious,

do I dare use cruise control?

Even when things get hectic?

Even when things are out of my control,

do I still want to relish?

In these moments..?

Some that I struggle to forget,

some that I don’t want to remember.

Some that are so beautiful,

cherished memories that fill me with warmth;

that are so caring, so tender.

No one else has the gall,

to challenge the idea

but I will be the contender.

Even if I’m the only,

and even if the chances are slender.

Let’s face it, I’ll probably never win.

Not even by a hair..

when I cross that finish line

it’s only cos I’m fueled by

both determination and despair….
