The de facto US national motto “E pluribus unum” (Out of many, one) was changed by Congress in 1956 to the official ‘In God We Trust’.
Laughable that God’s name is printed on all US currency when the Bible tells us that ‘the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil’.

And so it goes.

E pluribus unum
a nation forged from many hands.
Replaced with God’s name
stamped on money
the Bible warned us not to love.

“In God We Trust,”
say the bills,
passing through fingers
that trust only profit.
Faith reduced to a watermark,
greed made legal tender.

      • Thanks Damian.

I’m not American or a believer in God but the change in motto reflects the change in America.A country that once accepted the hungry, the tired, the persecuted now turns it’s back on them…..bet if they were billionaires they’d be welcomed with open arms.

        • Completely agree with you my friend. It almost foreshadows the Christian Nationalist movement going on in this country right now. America has turned heel. To use pro wrestling lingo. Appreciate you.
