    Bass Guitar

Do you feel the bass? It's deep rhythm strummed out to match your heartCan words create that soundCan thought mimic its emotion?Deeper and deeper it becomes carrying you on a dark currentTaking your very breath awayLouder it soundsvibrating its rhythmic tune...

    • Hoi hoi
      Hope this finds you well.

I don’t know if you did hear one of the cooperations I posted on DUP, of a DUP member and myself?
What you describe here is the essence of making music purely for fun.
Count to 4 and hammer away. Noise wonderful, tuning the guitar an option.

Thank you so much for making and posting this wonderful poem.
      Kind regards, Gus

      • Hi Gus, I do not think I did hear the collaboration you had. It must have been fun. Thank you for liking and commenting on this.

        • There were some 10 or 12 coops all in all. They attracted anything between an estimated 4,500 and 12,500 listeners per song. All musicians, writers and 8 of them a coop with DUP’ers.

Women often have to work harder to get a decent stage. I attempted to mingle fun with exposure to Dutch and international public.

But no matter, DUP is a sort of history book by now.
I hugely enjoyed you poem. Was it an Ibanez bass?

I wish you a beautiful Friday! Gus

    • Beautifully penned, Fia. Into the book it belongs! I loved this write my friend, you know how much I love a write that has music in it, especially when were talking about the importance of the bass guitar. Appreciate you.

    • The strings are attached to the soul.

Very much enjoyed this one. Great ink

    • I love the electric bass.
I go way back on that love with
      Jack Casady who was with
      Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna.
      Others too of course.
They always said of Jack that
“he carries it” meaning that he’s the heart of the band and sets the tone.

      BIG BASS LIKE …. ALWAYS

    • Reminds me that Tom Petty quote “I did it because I had no choice’. Some of us poets just are built to write.

      Great ink

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Nick. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Huge respect for, Petty. To quote Lemmy Kilmister: “I’m not qualified to do anything else.” Appreciate you.

    • Creativity is the proverbial finger…Nice.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I think so.. lol. Appreciate you.

    • What Nick said is pretty spot on. We write because to do otherwise destroys us to some degree. We give it the middle finger because that’s all we can do. Point out the hypocrisy, the hatred, the corruption & the willful blindness in the only means open to us. Somebody asked me recently “Yeah, but aren’t you just preaching to the choir?” I’m always mindful of the fact that words are a wave…once released, who knows where they’ll stop? So yeah, keep bringing it, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It’s our voice, to not use it brings aggravation for sure. We writers are pretty good at detecting bullshit. To quote the late great, Lemmy Kilmister: “I will keep doing it, because I’m not qualified to do anything else.” Appreciate you.

    • Shivering, lovely, creepy shivers down your spine… now that tells me I achieved what I set out to make here… thank you!

In fact, your comment inspired me to continue this little gothic-romance thread, haha. Part six coming today!

      Daniel

    • Hauntingly romantic with creepy tenderness, Daniel. To be honest, I need something to spark creativity in me and this made me pose thought to a genre I’ve yet to really spill ink in. I look forward to reading more in your series.

      • Thank you, Pandy. My genre is Gothic-Surrealism. Though I didn’t invent the term, I’ve used it in a literary sense instead of art. Thanks, again and find that spark!
