    • Seriously…if I hear them squawking these days I get a bit of gag reflex, followed immediately by pure rage. I gotta keep them on mute. Keep an eye out & soak in the silence…while we have it

    • Thanks ladies for reading and commenting….be silent …… be wise….be awake.

    Backstage - (Origins Of A Name-Lynyrd Skynyrd)

Welcome Backstage. I’m your host, Damian DeadLove. I’m here to share the knowledge I’ve learned over many summers. There will be different flavors to this show I’m sure. I was a lyricist on the local scene off...

    • 😅 That is cool. We all changed the name of coaches/teachers who are righteous pains in the butt’s. Mine was Ms Fatea. But I called her Ms. Fatta. Yup I was a bad kid.
      Like this Damian

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you enjoyed the story my friend. I was a bad kid as well. lol. Appreciate you.

    • This is so dope. I enjoy getting the backdrop to the bands I grew
listening to back when NY radio was really all inclusive.

      Much respect

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Naaj. So glad you enjoyed the story my friend. Cool, there will be more.. Back when radio was king. To quote the band, The Buggles: “Video killed the radio star.” Which was the first video ever on MTV. Of course technology buried them, Radio & TV. Appreciate you.

    • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. There’s always a chance someone has heard the story, it depends on the level of fan, and music knowledge. lol. Great song, great band. Both, Skynyrd, & Floyd were great bands. Appreciate you.

    • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Adira. Glad you enjoyed the story my friend. Alice, has a similar story. The fans started calling him, Alice. Because it was the Alice Cooper Band, so he just legally changed his name and went with it. He was going by his real name, Vince Furnier, in the early days. In fact in the lyrics of the song: “Be My Lover,” he makes mention of it. ” She asked me why the singers name was Alice, I said, Listen, baby, you really wouldn’t understand. I went off on a tangent, happens when I talk music. lol. Appreciate you.

    • See? I learn something new every time I read you. We used to sing that song Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah to annoy our parents. I’m pretty sure I had a P.E. teacher much like that guy. )I have understandably blocked his name from memory.) As soon as I read what that guy at the beginning said, I started shaking my head….no, no, no…not a singular dude…a group! Happy to hear I wasn’t wrong! 😂

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you enjoyed the read my friend. Well I try to be informative. lol. I purged the names of most teachers who taught me, there are 3 or 4, I remember for good reasons. I had one guy actually say this: “I like Def Leppard, he’s a good singer.” I’m not kidding, that was the craziest one I’ve heard. When Van Halen, was on the club scene, headlining Gazzarri’s I believe. The owner was always calling, (David Lee Roth) Van. I shit you not. lol. Appreciate you.

    • I didn’t know the backdrop on the group’s name, so that’s fascinating. I actually met several of these guys a few years ago. They are from the Mississippi area, or at least they visit here frequently. I’m sure you know there was a plane crash in McComb MS a long time ago where the band went down. (I wasn’t there for that)

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, DK. So glad you enjoyed the story my friend. That’s cool that you got to meet some of the guys in the bands. I think the band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida, but I could see them visiting frequently. But yes I know about the plane crash, several were injured, and three died. Including the lead singer. Thanks for sharing your story of them. Appreciate you.

        • Yeah, I met Ricky and several others. I guess that’s his name… long brown hair and crazy as hell. He jumps around like a Kangaroo Rat or something. Not a conversationalist. But I was at a lake house party held by this really rich fellow whose family knows the band.
There’s a pond behind my house with catfish. We invited the guys to all come out there to fish and they came!

    • It was a very weird time. I was working retail at the time too. Felt like an apocalypse. I thought it was so laughable when they were calling workers like me heros. Yeah, you might die but thanks for the Oreos haha.
