It’s the most wonderful thing

a hot cup of tea on an autumn afternoon

a ‘peaceful piano’ playlist playing on Spotify

a dressing gown to warm me in our cold home

trees outside the window

rain falling onto the beautiful earth

from where our flesh and blood does come.

a calm feeling in every cell

of course it won’t last

but that’s not the point, is it?

the point is that no matter

how much or how long we suffer

there will always be a shift in mood,

in thinking, that delivers peace.

a calm feeling in every cell

****************

almost every cell

there can be no God that

brings torrents of suffering

then only drip feeds peace.

if you exist dear Lord then

show some mercy,

give what you preach,

compassion,kindness,love

by the bucket loads.

a calm feeling in every cell

*****************

almost every cell

and Allah where were you

when the children died in Gaza?

were you busy filling growing minds

with the words of a prophet

whose deplorable actions are never questioned?

don’t make excuses

for the times in which he lived.

if you exist Allah

then rinse the blood from your hands,

from the hands of those that

hate in your name,

give the believers what they need

without dying for your cause.

a calm feeling in every cell

****************

almost every cell

Facebook, Google, Apple, Amazon and

all the other new religions that copy

sectarian faiths by grabbing babies

from birth so they can own them

until they’re no longer useful

when they no longer consume,

give the people what you promised

a better,more honest, truthful,

equal world

a calm feeling in every cell

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

And so I sit with a teeny

smile on my face and a

near empty cup of tea

I thank no God or Corporation

for the few minutes of peace

I’ve just enjoyed.

I thank myself for

the calm feeling in every cell

    1. Peace does come from within. I like the reference to the companies. “Though shall have no other god before me.” And also the picture that goes along with all you’ve referred to here.

      Good writing.
