Fickle Mirrors
Dear lord
how I have grown
to despise,
deny and to cry shy
of mirrors
and the increasing
remoteness
they leave me here
to wrestle with
throughout what is
essentially
left of our dotage ..
Yet not so
very long ago I did
love each
and every single
one of them
and the attention
they would
then dare to lavish
upon us both ..
Oh’ how fickle they
have become
and how fleeting
are those
simple things we all
live in fear
of losing we call
both youth and love ..

My new upcoming poem has “old and young” a coincidence? I’m not happy to read this from You but I can’t say it’s not well written, it is, and it’s emotive. maybe we should break all mirrors for You? will that make You feel better a little more?
I shall go & rifle through your pretty portfolio as soon as I get the opportunity .. and just for the record, even the thought of finding something new made my old ticker flutter .. I trust You already have some idea of what your visit means to me .. 🌻🥀
It is still on progress and hopefully it won’t take forever🙃 and yes You can trust me in that and other things too 😉😊🌷🌸🌺
Phew .. that’s a relief .. thought I was going a little bit cuckoo 🍒🌹🥀
The title drew me in right away. I used to avoid mirrors and apparently my sister thought I just couldn’t find one I liked, so she started buying them for me. Ironically, as I’ve grown older, I’m more at peace with the image it displays. There’s a certain sad acceptance in this of what can’t be changed. As Light said, it’s well written and captures the emotion
Thank you most kindly for checking in Willow, so very muchly appreciated .. All Good Things, Neville
Love it. Powerful work, as always, my friend.
Cheers Thomas .. Neville
Powerfully penned, Neville. Another excellent write with lots of layers my friend. As we get older we often see many things in a different light. I never liked any picture I was in and I couldn’t stand to hear my voice on a recording. I’m not joking..lol. I’ve accepted what’s in the mirror and the way my voice sounds on a recording these days. I got older and somewhere along the way the lightbulb finally lit up. Very relatable read my friend. Appreciate you.
Damian
