This resonates. My wife is a black woman and I am a white man. When others look, their body language sometimes speaks for them. Though we are judged by some, their opinions are irrelevant; as they don’t know of our love. I suppose, our self awareness might be more so than others when we are in public settings. In such few words; your poem is very insightful and thought provoking. Very well written Zazzles!
You know we are with who we’re with for many different reasons. Some people stay for love, some people stay for familiarity, and others stay for financial reasons. I am the ladder. Don’t get me wrong. I’m no gold digger. I just can’t afford my apartment without my narcissistic boyfriends share the of rent. In fact, I can’t afford anywhere anymore on the money I make. Unfortunately, not every American can afford to buy a house and sadly I’m one of those people so I rent. And I feel you Angel, mix race marriages do get dirty looks but I never let that affect me because the people giving the dirty looks are not worth knowing and their opinion means nothing thanks for looking.
