Prescription for Humanity: The Overview Effect?

Would all of us truly become changed,
  better people
if we saw the earth from space?
Enamored with everything…
  prone to fits of hugging…
    with startling clarity of thought?
What if astronauts are just
  inherently
    the best of us –
  extraordinarily generous souls
with open minds and romantic hearts?
If we sent a group of small-minded, selfish pessimists
on a trip around the moon,
would they also come back starry-eyed,
  unified and soft-hearted?
What degree of connectedness
  do I believe
my worst enemy is capable of,
given the chance at an awakening?
What does my answer
to that question
say
about me?

    1. Good questions, all. I tend to lean a bit into cynical these days. If you put the current lot of rot in our capital in space around the moon, I think they’d try to figure out how to make a buck on it. I personally would be awestruck, as I believe many others would be as well.

    2. Dear K,

An introspective postulation. Sadly, my first response is people are the worst whether from earth or space. But then, I consider my answer if I had slept well, had a snack and liked my outfit would my thought be different??…nope. The only thought remaining consistent is your thoughtful write and how you maintain such high level talent. H 🌷

    3. I love everything about this write. It’s hope, it’s curiosity, all of it. I’m a positive person by nature.
I don’t like to be weighed down negativity. I have bad days sure but I don’t let it own the whole week.
Reading this today made me feel good. So did the astronauts! They put in the work and got it done.
Sometimes we need to be reminded it’s okay to be happy!

      Great write!

    4. The main thing is how incredibly brave they are to even get on a spaceship and get launched. It is extremely tight quarters in one as well. No claustrophobics need apply. So I don’t think they are the best of us, but they definitely are in the top level for bravery.
Your write itself is wonderous, too! It is great to see another old school DUPer in here posting. Thank you!
