Moths of Pompeii

Summary:
I wrote this a while back. I did art for it in my digital art class! I love how it turned out and this is in my book!

Voices of volcanic dust
Secrets of yesterday
Melted passengers
In the air of Pompeii

Sweeping antenna beads
Scooping up ashes
Like holy hands
Fleeing sooty pallbearers

Nocturnal wanderlust
Swarming with care
Across Mount Vesuvius
In molten lava-light

Floating Roman embers
Seared patterns of eyes
Blinking in their wings
In sand and grey tones

Powder clinging lives
Survived
On the

Moths of Pompeii

The artwork is incredible! The write of course is so your style of unique phrasing. Clever wording to go with the picture, well, vice versa. Your talent is showing!

    2. Wow… I really like this Adelphina.
It’s like you picked me up at the start and wasn’t going to put me down untill I finished it. And I’m glad you did. Amazing.

      • Damien, amigo! Thank you!
This was an extra special write because it was such a sad historical event.
The remnants are still here for everyone to view. Not sure how I feel about that.
Having other peoples pain on display. Just feels like such an intrusion.

But you know what is pretty cool to display, your rocking avatar’s hair!! Hahaha
Had to lighten up this comment, I meant no offense:)

      • Hey there! Poetry and artwork is my new jam!

    3. I’ve seen the frozen bodies of Pompeii. he families that died together in their homes. I’m sure they would have been happy to have wings to fly away on. Great poem of butterflies and great art work, Adel. 🙂

    4. There’s absolutely nothing about this whole page that isn’t magical and I love it so ..

p.s. I’ve been to Pompeii several times and understand entirely where you & those moths are coming from .. 😎🦋🦋👍

      • Hi Nev,
Thank you for that. Means a lot amigo. I can’t even imagine how it must have felt like, being there in person.
The fact that their remains are still in tact and have not broken down is astounding to me.

        Thank you for stopping by!

    5. This is pure art in motion. I could just lose myself in the beauty of your poem. I was mesmerized by the impressionist wonder within your poem. A real gem to read tonight.

      John

      • Hi John,

Thank you for that. Love the words impressionist wonder. With this piece I wanted to give some light even when everything feels so helpless. I’m happy you enjoyed the read.
