Calling my Priestess
On the bleakest of nights
Pull off white feathers
From your beaded headdress
Dip it into rosemary water
Anoint my flesh
Smear a calming prayer
Across my chest
Pull out my evils
Place them somewhere else
Drag them to hell
Place on the devil’s top shelf
Calling my Priestess
On the bleakest of nights
Grab your mortal and pestle
Mix tree sap with flower petals
Invigorate my soul
Grace my tongue
Let me taste prayers
Exhaled from your lungs
You are radiant lightning
Sanctified art
Shock strength into
My ambivalent heart
Calling my Priestess
On the bleakest of nights
Lift my dark clouds
Bless me with light

Chère A.,
A smear of beauty?
You are fab at underplaying your worth. If I may say so.
Did you see the ode that was posted here on SR where all the people are mentioned that the writer loves the most?
You are mentioned there!
I’m grateful for you posting this one and be back (the gods and tent/connection internet willing) tomorrow for another eyeful of beauty.
The Amsterdam fanbase waves to/at you.
Warm regards, Gus
Hi Gus!
It’s so wonderful to hear from you. Yes I did! Willow is a rock star so her ode gave me an extra skip in my step. Haha
I am so honored to have an Amsterdam fan base which would not be possible without you and your talent! No joke. You rock on that guitar amigo!
As for the write I had not been on for a while and decided to post something. I’ve been busy finishing the first draft of my book! So excited for the future:). Life is a true blessing.
Thanks for stopping by and for the read.
Give Amsterdam a huge hello and thank you from me!
A good write
Hi Adagio!
Why thank ya!
An awesome write by an awesome writer, if I do say so myself! I’m happy that you decided to post something in here! You’re needed! And this isn’t really a dark write, my dear. I get more of a vibe of searching for a solution to a frustrating moment, yeah? Anyway, I love the message you carried consistently throughout the poem. It moves along fluidly and keeps the reader spellbound to the end. Well done, my love!
Hey, get some sleep!
Well hello big sexy! Haha
My original write was a bit darker before I decided to change it up. I felt this write was more hopeful for a positive outcome. We all go through our own version of hell before we find heaven. I found mine so I changed the write to reflect my current state of mind. You have a lot to do with that mister! Lots of big changes on the horizon! I feel very blessed at the moment:)
Love you sweetie.
Beautifully penned, Adel. Another excellent write with lots of layers my friend. I concur with Mark, I don’t think it’s a dark write, it does have a mysterious vibe though. Amazing read as always. Appreciate you.
Damian
Damien!
It’s been a minute since I posted, so I’m thrilled you stopped by for a read amigo.
In the original write I was speaking to my priestess about my demoness.
Didn’t flow the way I wanted it to so I edited it out.
Thank you for the comment. It’s appreciated.
A great poem Adelly. I get a crystal ball vibe out of this, or a maybe even a gypsy feel. Either way, I like it. 🙂
Well hello Tim!
Thank you so much for stopping by for a comment. It’s been a while since I came on so thank you.
How have you been! Still drumming along I hope. Haha
Yes, I wanted it to have a witch doctor vibe to it.
My grandmother would always give us blessings if she knew we were having night terrors or having really horrible luck. It was her way of trying to help you. I look back at it now and realized how much power she gave her faith.
I struggle with that sometimes but other times I’ve realized it’s all you got amigo:)
Stay cool Tim!,
There’s definitely nothing dark about this one, girl. This one rolls out almost spiritually. Whether pagan calling to their priestess or spirit calling to her inner priestess…this hits beautifully. We have entered “spooky girl” season and it’s time to bring out the fun stuff indeed! I’m not much good at spooky, but maybe I can try my hand in honor of the month. 🙌
