I came to you expecting relief.
I thought you’d understand.
I thought you’d look at me
and finally see how far I was willing to go
to give you the life you said you wanted.
Instead, you looked afraid.
Of me.
I remember that.
I remember it better
than I remember her face.
You stepped away from me.
You told me I was insane.
You said you never asked.
Maybe not in plain words.
Maybe you said you wished she’d leave.
Maybe you said you couldn’t take another year.
Maybe I heard what I needed to hear.
But don’t stand there now
and pretend you didn’t know
how much I loved you.
Don’t pretend you didn’t know
there was nothing
I wouldn’t do.

Powerfully penned, Kay. Another excellent write that adds a layer to the story my friend. This felt like it was told in a flashback, kinda retracing the steps of how these characters got to this point. Just my opinion anyhow. Amazing read as always. Appreciate you.

Yes, this is after the fact. As always, thank you for the read, Damian.
