Do My Pictures Lie

What if I told you my pictures lie 

That’s what you see on the outside is an illusion 

That if the camera could capture the truth 

You’d see many tears falling down my cheeks

If only the flash brought you within this mind

Then you’d witness the darkness here inside 

How the shadows are my only sanctuary 

That the light has not been able to build a home

You’d see the walls of my own design 

The ones I originally built to keep the darkness in 

Blissfully unaware that I would get trapped too 

I guess that’s the price I paid for my sanity

But although there are broken pieces here within 

All those pieces are still trapped here with me 

Every journey through the darkness finds hope 

As I collect more puzzle pieces every single day
