Summary:
Late night musing. Yes I love cars, especially muscle cars. - Damian DeadLove

Dirt road reveals the entrance

Splintered words welcome you

Chain links distorted glance

Grass damp with morning dew

Crawling through the boneyard

Where legends are put to rest

Rusty bodies who lived hard

Dusty earth devour’s what’s left

Skeleton of a vintage Mustang

Once cobra jet powered

She went out with a bang

While the competition cowered

Shelby was her fatherly saint

Bucket seats dressed in leather

Factory blue and white paint

Faded by time worn by weather

Fiberglass curves so majestic

Born on a Detroit assembly line

Now propped by stone and stick

Stripped of her slick iconic design

Here lays the Corvette Stingray

Fast forward seventy years

Her heartbeat still heard today

Through offspring and new ears

    1. I really enjoyed this!

For being about a boneyard, I found it to be uplifting. My first car was a mustang.
It’s a story (of course, lol), but this vivid poem of yours brought back some nice memories. Phenomenally penned, Damian.

And now I’m off to bed. It’s 1:30 am. I need more hours in my day!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mary. So glad you enjoyed the write my friend. Cool, my first car was a Camaro. I love cars & trucks even though I’m not mechanical at all. lol. When I need to relax I watch YouTube for the Car revival shows. A guilty pleasure I guess. lol. Never enough time. Appreciate you.

    2. This was a great piece Damian. They should have a cemetery for these classic muscle cars. I love the look, the sound and the performance of these cars from the 60’s and 70’s. Great piece of writing Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you enjoyed the write my friend. There are nothing like the classics my friend. I even dig some of the 50’s cars and trucks. Appreciate you.

    3. Okay, I’m gonna admit it. This brought me to tears. The memories I have of wandering salvage yards with daddy, scavenging parts for his current car project, are some of the most precious for me. Daddy’s little grease monkey. I can smell the old interiors & rust still. Thank you for the journey back, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Sounds like joyous tears then. My dad worked on cars some when I was younger, sometimes I smell fresh paint mixed with bondo. lol. I also enjoy watch car revivals on YouTube. I find it relaxing for some reason. Grease monkey, huh? Great story my friend. Appreciate you.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Nick. Some of the newer cars are better than the 80’s and 90’s models. But they don’t have the spirt and vibe of their older counterparts. Appreciate you.

    5. As someone who loves oldtimers and especially muscle cars (as you know) I can’t love this one enough. You took me on a trip down memory lane, my friend. Thanks heaps for sharing 🖤
