When Your Poems Find a Home

Each verse I pen and then disperse out into the universe and the unknownThey carry a little part of me with heart and soul that’s beyond flesh and boneBut they return with an echo from the voices of others...

    • Beautifully penned, Wally. Excellent write my friend. The life of a writer is never boring. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Thank you very much Damian. It’s our never ending search for the perfect words, which is an exciting journey.
        Hope you’re doing well.

    • We are all here to share words; to offer through cyberspace an image, a scene, or an experience that can hopefully come alive in the readers mind.

If we have writings we are too shy to reveal to friends or relatives, there’s always a place waiting where we can share with likeminded souls, knowing we are always welcome. The door down the hall is always unlocked.

And when we’ve settled in, it’s as though we are sharing a piece of ourselves with confidence.

      Awesome writing, Wally.

      • Thank you Tim, I think you really narrowed it down. I remember being shy so many years ago and then I felt comfortable sharing. It’s been a journey for many of us and now we found this place that does feel like home.

    • Really enjoyed this. You wrote what a home should be. Thank you.

      • Thank you very much Fia. For some it takes a while, but the names and camaraderie we build gives us that comfort we seek in like minded writers and poets.
        Hope you’re doing well.

    Winter Whining

I’ve been winter whining, pining for the sun to come outI’m tired of fog advisories with even more chance of rainAnd when the cold hits my old bones it’s like I’m chasing cloutVomiting sick rhymes which are primal vital...

    • Cleverly penned, Wally. Excellent write my friend. You had a couple of typo’s:

“Thus, I take up this quill and spill the ink to past the time” I think you mean “pass”

“Bu it’s fitting” this is the other.

      Appreciate you

      Damian

    • Thanks for the heads up Damian. I’m a little rusty since I’m just getting back to writing.
Always appreciate your feedback sir. Hope you have a great new year!

    • The Cailleach’s time of year is indeed a difficult one for many of us, my friend. When the sky refuses to wear that magnetic blue I love, I regrettably find myself “Winter Whining” as well haha. Your writing style and images here are akin to a cheekier Robert Louis Stevenson. Thank you for superbly poetizing your winter woes!

      Clay

      • Thank you very much Clay, I appreciate your comment.
The weather in the Central valley of California has been pretty much the same. I can count the number of sunny days from the past 3 months and the morning fog seems to get worse. But either way, it allows me to observe and express this “seasonal depression” which isn’t too bad.
        Hope you’re doing well.

    • Oh boy, do I relate to this one! I would say spring is coming, but there’s 2 things about that…allergies if it does come; and no guarantee it will. We’ve talked our environment to the point that nothing is solid and predictable. I totally get this one

      • Yeah, the allergies are a pain. I love winter and spring (the summers are too hot where I live) and the spring only lasts for a couple of weeks before the heat takes over.
Thank you for stopping by for a read and do hope you’re doing well.
        W

    • I wait everyday for just a peak at the sun I get depressed on the grey days great write ❤️

      • Same crim. The fog has been really bad lately, I had to drive slower in the morning on the way to work.
        Hope all is well.

    • Dear W,

A very relatable write. I hate having to get up in sections to make sure I don’t injure something in the process. And when did my nose become a faucet?? I wish I’d invested in tissue stock. Great to see you and Happy New Year! H 🌷

      • Sorry to hear you’ve been sick. This weather can be so difficult for some of us, but I know the California weather doesn’t compare to the harshness everyone has been experiencing everywhere else. Hope you’re feeling better by now.

    Animal Charm

And so it was, when the big pig had seized powerHe asked his followers to swear allegiance to himAnd the baldheaded big wigs - within the same hourKnelt and kissed his ring, without thinking, in a whim Though many animals...

    • “Because some are more loyal than others. ” I think more are easier to break and make them follow than being loyal. I read animal farm. I like the use of the idea here

      • Thank you Fia. Yes the loyal part also works. I just re-read sometime ago and I was watching a drum corps program that dealt with the same issue about being equal, so that theme stuck with me.
Always appreciate your comments and hope you have a wonderful new year.

    • Powerfully penned, Wally. Excellent write my friend. Sabbath and Floyd I dig that. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Thank you Damian.
Yes, the pig theme from the music and the book (along with the image) just felt like they all tied together in a way.
Hope you have a great new year sir.

    • Excellent. I think I know of this pig and his followers. There may be other interpretations, but I gravitate toward the one that has this swine in the highest of high positions. I shall try to eat more fish.

      • Greetings Sam, yes you are exactly correct, let alone the latest comment made toward a woman by calling her just that. I think the majority of us feel this frustration (and anger), anxiety just to name a few.
Hope you have a great new year.

    A Poem Without

    • hello dearest Wallly this poem says how I feel…I asked God today if there was any real love you know two people really loving each other…great write ❤️

      • hi crim, hope you’re doing well. Thank you. Yes, it’s difficult to find a soul mate in today’s world, even though her and I went through different paths for a decade we found each other again. Hope you had a great Christmas and wishing you a happy new year.

    • Powerfully penned, Wally. Excellent write my friend. Appreciate you.
