Is this a song because I am reading this as a song. This makes me think of what the person is observing in his life and how people interact with him.

That’s so profound. Family isn’t the same thing to everyone. Honestly, the people who really raised us are the family…our friends, our mentors, our music. The rest is sometimes just DNA. I agree with Fia, this feels like lyrics to me

I like how in the first stanza, you start out hazy and that no cares, then the next you explain the addiction and how everyone should relate in one form or another, because there are so many different addictions. Then you come back at the end and want to know who your true friends are.
You lead the reader of this very nicely. Good write Nick;))
