      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Neville. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I’m honored to receive such a great first comment, kind sir. Sometimes I go for the jugular and let emotion fuel the words. Appreciate you.

    • The perfect description of that famous American Antichrist: Donald Trump. I feel for you all over there, your great nation being forced to change into a Fascist, Racist State. Great summary of your pain, Damien – you always write so expressively, never afraid to speak out! Take Care, Harriet-Jacqui, Communist Woke Hypercritical England.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, HJ. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I feel for the people of every country that has to come in contact with him, and yes for all of us over here that knew he was bad news. But it’s more troublesome that not everyone is appalled by him. Unfortunately, it seems not everyone got the memo or at the very least chose not to read it. I’m too old to be afraid anymore my friend, I just write it. Thank you for your wonderful commentary and continued support. Appreciate you.

    • Outstanding piece Damian. Can relate and I’m with you on all these points. Great!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Always nice to know I have company, brother. Appreciate you.

    • Write on Damien. Creative and to the point. Precise even.
I have a family of all different sides of the political spectrum. We had to make a point
not to get overly heated in our group texts. I’m not loosing my loved ones over politics. If I feel
overly emotionally invested then I take a break from all news outlets. I’m not letting whoever is president Republican or Democrat ruin my day for 4 years or 8.
Unfortunately somehow it’s came to that for other families.

      Sorry for the ramble!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Adel. So glad you connected with the write my friend. We’ve had to make that same point of not getting heated in family conversations, but sometimes it boils over, and when it does it’s not always pretty. Just gotta let each other cool off. Appreciate you.

    • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, NTD. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That it is on both accounts. Appreciate you.

    • There’s grief under the anger here—the ache of watching something familiar turn strange in your hands.
You don’t rant; you reckon, and that steady disappointment cuts deeper than any shout.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Thomas. So glad you connected with the write my friend. There is grief under the anger indeed brother. Thank you for the amazing commentary and continued support. Appreciate you.

    • You’ve touched on what I refer to as “The Beast System”, and we are all guilty of supporting it. Our clothes on our backs and technology in our homes and gasoline in our cars and produce in the grocery store are all brought to us by usury & exploitation of third world populations, natural environments, and the illusion of false scarcity. I don’t judge any political affiliations or religious viewpoints because we are ALL guilty, regardless of how we choose to see it or word it and I love the accountability you are taking in this piece. Do we even recognize society at-large these days, even in comparison to the recent past? You are eloquently pointing out why we here in the West can’t have nice things, creating some cool rhymes & flow in the process.

      Most appreciative, Damian!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Benjamin. So glad you connected with the write my friend. We all play a part, I can see where you’re coming from, I believe the tentacles of the “beast” are rooted deeper than most can even imagine. It’s like being water-boarded with crumbs of information, and assembly is required just to reverse engineer that information back to coherent. I believe taking accountability is important in finding answers. Thank you for your awesome commentary. Appreciate you.

    • I’ve lost family and friends to this terrible time with the colostomy bag in chief. It seems there are those who simply can’t respect the idea to disagree and let it be. They’re almost violently adamant that we’re the corrupt ones who need indoctrination. And when we refuse to drink the Kool-aid, they turn on us. I disagree with their beliefs, but unless they get nasty, I just don’t engage on the subject with them. It is hard when someone you’ve known and respected for your whole life turns on you over this situation. It makes me sad to think of their realization dawning when time ends for them and they’re forced to witness their wrongs. And what they threw away because of it. Nothing about this situation is good. Too much loss, on so many levels. I’m feeling the sadness and frustration in this one, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It’s a lot to process right now, I guess that’s because the cut is so fresh since it happened recently. I think disappointment is the word that best fits, sure I’m sad and frustrated as well, but I keep coming back to that I’m more disappointed than anything. I’m still kinda meditating on this one so to speak, writing helps me work things out, patience in my process is crucial when it comes to this situation my friend. As far as the Colostomy bag goes, you’re absolutely spot on as usual my friend. Appreciate you.

    • I was drawn to this because of the Title. It got me hooked.

It’s taken me by surprise though. I didn’t expect it to be about a relationship falling apart.

But it is very well written and I admire your inner strength throughout the stanzas.

You are excellent at describing a messy and difficult situation. x

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Rosie. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I’ve been doing that since my songwriting days, have a title that makes you think one way, then the lyrics go another. I’m a creature of habit sometimes it seems. lol. Thank you for your continued support. Appreciate you.

    • I don’t remember him having 4 arms. That is a cool public service announcement to stay away from fast food.

      • the 4 armed Grimace was only for like a year or two. Many complaints were coming in from parents that Grimace was scaring the shit out of kids watching those commercials. Thanks Fia.

    • Cleverly penned, Keith. Excellent write my friend. Sounds like Grimace and Cookie Monster would have a lot in common. lol. So he couldn’t get over as a heel? So they turned him baby! The four arms are kinda creepy, even by dropping “Evil” it still sounds like a heel name. Was the Hamburglar a heel too? Stealing hamburgers and such. I’m having too much fun with the wrestling lingo brother. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • HA! Hamburglar was always a heel. He was never gruesome or disturbed looking. One look at evil grimace was scary & unsettling for kids. I can see the similarities of Grimace & Cookie Monster. Totally. Thanks Damian for the fun reply back!

    • Hey Keith, I can dig it. Nicely written my dear friend!

    • The “Evil Grimace” design definitely leaned into that exaggerated, bulky cartoon villain look. It wasn’t really about realistic body size so much as creating a goofy, over-the-top shape that kids would instantly recognize. What’s funny is how he eventually transformed from a four‑armed “evil” milkshake thief into the friendly, clumsy purple blob everyone knows today, one of the strangest character glow‑ups in fast‑food history. Big purple hug, my dear friend.

    • This is deep and takes the mind to a place that makes you ponder what we are witnessing today, could it be avoided if we just remembered past events instead of letting it just fade into the back ground

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the write my friend. From the first couple of lines into the first stanza of writing this it just had a trippy kinda vibe to me. So I just kinda went with it. Appreciate you, cuz.

    • Tight rhymes, amigo. Sing your songs, even silently. They still hit.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mark. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Will do brother thank you for your continued support. Appreciate you.

    • hello dearest Damian this made me sad the horde is so ficke my friend I feel you ❤️

    • Well damn. This reads like a whiskey bottle that learned to rhyme. I can practically hear the guitar echoing off brick walls. You really said, “Let’s take a road trip with regret,” and made it sound cool. Brooding in the best way. I’m into it.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Kay. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Thank you for your amazing commentary, I dig the description. Appreciate you.

    • A beautifully chaotic board, fitting for a poem about drifting identities, inner shadows, and the erosion of meaning. You’ve written something that feels like a road‑worn blues song fused with psychological noir.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, PAR. So glad you connected with the write my friend. You’re such a wordsmith my brother, even your commentary is poetic! Thank you for your continued support, it truly means a lot to me. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Cool piece. Dark, intelligent & moving.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I try brother, I try. lol. Appreciate you.

    • I got the feel of a New York City late night blues while reading this excerpt of a journey.
C Train, getting off at W 4th St, an urban couple getting frisky and fussy in public, a homeless man marking his territory,
a rat scurrying beneath the 3rd rail as the lone guitarist curates those city blues.

      Straight diggin this vibe, D

      Much respect

      Naaj

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Naaj. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Glad you’re diggin’ the vibe my brother. I was definitely going for that blues feel, that lone guitarist has and continues to observe the reality of humanity in this world. Thank you for the stellar commentary and continued support. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • “Dark passenger”…now that’s a concept i like to delve into very much. Relating to this wholeheartedly. Maybe a tad too much lol.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Benjamin. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Yeah, we all have a “Dark Passenger” throughout this journey called life. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • I don’t know where this one took others, and I’m refusing to check yet. But to me, this reads as those who are watching evil taking the stage and are documenting what they see. It reminds me of a name much in the news these days, and the vile things perpetrated and orchestrated by him. But that one man couldn’t have done any of those things without a lot of collaboration from a lot of others. Many of whom are currently destroying our world. The blues in the shadows fits this vibe so perfectly. And regardless where it takes people, it takes us, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. There is a lot of blues in the shadows these days, and all the elements you mention in your amazing commentary, are definitely sprinkled throughout this one. Sometimes I feel the need to pinch myself these days in hopes I wake up to what’s been a horrible nightmare, only to have reality slap that notion down quickly. So glad you’re back. Appreciate you.
