Is he a taste-bud or a milkshake?
Everyone loves that happy, purple blob Grimace
He’s a McDonald character that loves milk shakes
Back when he debuted in 1971, he was called Evil Grimace
Evil Grimace was sinister
A villain who would steal milkshakes from children
He was mean, had four arms and no charm at all
Children were frightened
Some children believed if they ordered a milk shake, that evil Grimace would steal it out of their hands
The 4-armed Grimace was also a coke fiend
Besides stealing milk shakes and tormenting kids, he would steal cups of soda, creating a gloomy day in McDonaldland
Evil Grimace was usually duped by Ronald McDonald
He would never learn from his mistakes
Around St Patrick’s Day, Evil Grimace would turn green, promoting Shamrock Shakes
You would think he would be a nice like a leprechaun… he wasn’t
By 1972 Evil Grimace wasn’t going over to well with children
McDonald’s decided to amputate two of his arms, drop “Evil” off of his name and give the character a dopey, friendlier personality
Similar to the Patrick character in Sponge Bob Square Pants
Maybe the creators of Sponge Bob were influenced by Grimace
So Grimace went from being a heel to a baby face
From stealing milk shakes, he became best friends with Ronald
I guess having a clown as your good friend, hooks you up with an unlimited amount of milk shakes and Coke
Grimace is obviously obese
I’m sure he’s also diabetic with heart issues
Is this a way to tell the viewer that you can end up looking like Grimace?
If so, avoid McDonald’s or any other fast food chain at all costs!

I don’t remember him having 4 arms. That is a cool public service announcement to stay away from fast food.
the 4 armed Grimace was only for like a year or two. Many complaints were coming in from parents that Grimace was scaring the shit out of kids watching those commercials. Thanks Fia.
Cleverly penned, Keith. Excellent write my friend. Sounds like Grimace and Cookie Monster would have a lot in common. lol. So he couldn’t get over as a heel? So they turned him baby! The four arms are kinda creepy, even by dropping “Evil” it still sounds like a heel name. Was the Hamburglar a heel too? Stealing hamburgers and such. I’m having too much fun with the wrestling lingo brother. Appreciate you.
Damian
HA! Hamburglar was always a heel. He was never gruesome or disturbed looking. One look at evil grimace was scary & unsettling for kids. I can see the similarities of Grimace & Cookie Monster. Totally. Thanks Damian for the fun reply back!
Hey Keith, I can dig it. Nicely written my dear friend!
Thanks PG. Nice to hear from you.
The “Evil Grimace” design definitely leaned into that exaggerated, bulky cartoon villain look. It wasn’t really about realistic body size so much as creating a goofy, over-the-top shape that kids would instantly recognize. What’s funny is how he eventually transformed from a four‑armed “evil” milkshake thief into the friendly, clumsy purple blob everyone knows today, one of the strangest character glow‑ups in fast‑food history. Big purple hug, my dear friend.
