      Bad Choices

Does it drive you mad deep inside? Knowing that I read through the lies It’s your tone the suggestion implied As darkness slowly claims your eyes   Eventually the wheels fall off the car Tired engine sputters going nowhere  Too busy wishing on some falling star Always...

      • Music, when being made, and left to people’s decisions, will always run into clashes between the makers of it. Sometimes it’s a clash of personalities, or other times some section of a song that’s causing derision. I once wrote an instrumental acoustic guitar song assuming it would go onto a CD we were making. The actual guitarist in the band used it for a limo ad he was making for a company.

Music is a spiritual thing. It’s a shame when animosity develops over it.

        Good one, Damian.

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That is some twisted shit to do to a bandmate. Sorry, that happened to you brother. When we were in sync, we were a really good team. Before all the manipulative games began, people change, not always for the better. Music is a spiritual thing, I agree. Thanks for sharing part of your story, Tim. Appreciate you.

      • When the passion is in the wrong place, nothing will ever reach the destination. I seriously with that album had come to fruition. I betcha one day he will too. Whether or not he ever acknowledges it…? What does one do when they realize they literally walked away from the talent? I would still love to have heard that album, my friend

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I wish the album came to fruition as well. I’ve always wondered will that day come, when he realizes that he ran from his talent as well. Most of all will he realize I was his biggest supporter, that I had his back, and if he believed half as much as I did he could have had his music heard. I’m more disappointed than anything, I guess. Thank you for your commentary, and for making me feel a little better my friend. I appreciate you.

      • Nice rhythm love the joker in batman creation

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Joker, is pure madness. lol. Funny enough the first two lines came from lyrics to an old song that J.J. Burton and I wrote together. The rest of the words weren’t up to par. But always loved those first two lines. Appreciate you.

But seriously, this is very good, Damian.

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Alexandria. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Such an iconic Joker line. Appreciate you.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mary. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It’s not really about the Joker, to be truthful. The first two lines are from an old song that was just a silly song that J.J. Burton and I penned the words to in like 1993. But I always liked the first two lines, so I just wrote something else to them. He mentioned the Joker because he was a fan, and I just used that to make the first two lines. lol. A little backstory for you, I always ramble on. lol. Appreciate you.

      • hello dearest Damian I really liked this one I guess the joker would kind of be Lucifer always laughing at peoples pain really your poem rocks as they do anyway 💕

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Brenda. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I think the joker could be Lucifer, but I was also thinking that darker side we all have inside. Really it could apply to any form of a personal demon, different to each person. Sorry for rambling. lol. Appreciate you.

      • The first thought I have is a person or boss egging you on while you struggle.or just being smug. Laughing at your pain kinda thing.

        Great ink, friend

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Nick. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That’s also a possibility, it could kinda be that person that’s a thorn in my side. Great commentary. Appreciate you.

      • As usual, I may be reading this wrong. But I’m feeling a sense of apathy is just as deadly as hate/evil. Those who don’t speak up for others, give their silence as a voice to the bullies. It definitely has my mind going, my friend

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I can see that, you always have cool insight to the meaning, always enjoy your commentary. Appreciate you.

      • There are so many great lines in this one. I think the one that sticks the strongest with me is:

“Complacency is a recipe for disaster”

Not paying enough attention to the gravity of a situation is so dangerous. All it takes is a single grain to tip the scales. Gotta watch the build-up. Your mind never ceases to amaze me, my friend

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. One of my favorite lines as well, though I had other lines I liked as well. You’re spot on as always. Appreciate you.

      • Coming to a dark truth is scary after a long search isn’t it?
Favorite line: Distractions occupy the symbol minded

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It is quite scary, it definitely woke me up. lol. I loved that line as well, one of my favorites. Appreciate you.

      • G’mornin’, Damian 🌤
The enjoyment of your fine writes goes well with this hot wake up mug-a lapsang souchong.

Such a beautifully rendered, smoothly flowing set of unmetered Quatrains (in a-b-a-b spot-on rhymes) sing a sad song, indeed.
They say, “We must play the cards we’re dealt!” But, I, as You, have obviously been dealt some tragically sorry hands.
The one worst aspect of romantic relationships your keenly-writ lines bring to mind, is the painful reality of unrequited feelings and emotions.

“Understand I’m living the fucking song
And your loyalty lies in remaining numb”

Brilliant work, Syr Poet … thank you for sharing! ⁓ Rascal🖌

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Rascal. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Terrible hands indeed, and I didn’t do much in my early life to help matters. Like becoming an alcoholic, just lead me farther off the path. This one has layers, on one hand there is nothing wrong with a romantic relationship poem, so I don’t mind it being viewed as such. But this one is more about a songwriting partner/friend who I loved like a brother. He was family, until that was no longer possible. They kinda overlap. lol. Thank you for your wonderful commentary. Appreciate you.

          Damian

          • Thanks for clearing the relationship … just read again and it makes perfect sense.

            Been there, done that!

A thought: Ya might consider saying what you did to me in the Summary for others to enjoy this piece all the more.

Thanks, Damian, for your appreciation! ⁓ RJ
