Yes he did i thought he would have been more in the song instead of the back ground. Its still a good song

He was giving Eddie his moment to shine. Rick was already established. Ode fact: Rick James and Neil Young were in a band together called the Mynah Birds. Circa: 1964 to 1967. They did not release an album though.

This is sad. This tendency for being out of control
Evolves around some tragic altercation
Endless riches won’t fix an empty soul
Insert semantics to avoid conversation
that is so well said Damian

My gratitude to your friend, who inspires you to write this brilliant poem, dear Damian. You found the right words and arranged them very well to express what is going wrong in a society where people cherish material possessions more than the things that really matter in life.
-
For some reason, the word “sorrow” has always had a poetic nod to me. I don’t know why. It sounds less sad than “sad”, or something. Your poem carries it throughout, too. As if you are aware and ahead of the game of sadness, and are dealing with it. Maturity within the emotion, perhaps. Excellent word build.
-
This pulses with dark electricity—chaos and isolation crackle between each line.
The images burn and linger, leaving the reader in that tense, uneasy space where beauty and despair collide. -
Dear D,
Such a reflective piece. Handful of sorrow. Amazing refrain that stops the noise and helps put the important things in place. Lovely homage to your colleague. Speaks well of you to recognize his gift to you and in return your gift to us. H🌷
-
The images of isolation, demons, and “empty riches” function as symptoms of a subjectivity that has lost its center and finds its only echo in its own abyss. There is an almost apocalyptic cadence, but it is treated as a diagnosis—not of an end of the world, but of an end of meaning. The final question does not seek an answer: it exposes the bankruptcy of the very idea of the future. Brilliant, my brother.

I favor this stanza the most because it resonates deeply within me. I share with you, your sadness my dear friend. This is beautiful, and sad.. A true sentiment of raw emotion and sorrow. Well done! xx

Excellent write. You know sometimes writes just flow out. Other times when it takes over a day it feels like crafting – like putting a puzzle together that takes time. This one reads beautifully.
-
I think all poets are familiar with sorrow. Perhaps it acts as an impelling force to get out the feelings inside that don’t want to stay hidden. I would love to hear the music behind this. Nice one, Damian.
-
Strong piece Damian. As usual penned with great rhythm and flow. Sounds like a friendship that has strong ties.
Well done my friend. -
Unfortunately your words here are prefect fit for now adays. People are killed all over the world, horrible massacres here and there, for what? some “humans” feed on greed, on blood and money… I am a believer of the good-evil battle and it seems we are now at the cerst of this battle. I agree about your title, it’s emotionally poetic. Thank You for keep sharing your heart and kind humantic poetical voice🤍 Peace🕊️

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Light. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Unfortunately it does fit perfectly with what’s going on in present. I’m also a believer in the good verses evil battle as well. Thank you for your commentary and continued support. Appreciate you.

“Insert semantics to avoid conversation”
That line was such a gut punch for me. So often people dodge the subject by deliberately engaging in semantics play. They know exactly what’s going on. They’d just rather turn a blind eye. Pretend it isn’t there. And thus we are in this current box of what-the-fuck trying to figure out how to come out of it in one piece. This is so relevant to the world right now. Shall I toss another log on the fire, my friend?

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That is one of my all time favorite lines as well. As soon as I wrote it down and read it out loud the hair on my arms stood up. lol. I had a feeling you would like that line. Once again your commentary is spot on. Yeah, toss another log on the fire, got a feeling we might be here for a while. Appreciate you.

This is raw possession and feral confidence on the page—jealousy sharpened into language instead of apology.
It’s confrontational without flinching, and the voice knows exactly how far to lean into menace before it becomes theater. -
I’m digging the attitude and confidence. Telling it like it is in your own sense of style.
Back off my man! This is fun to read and had a swag urban feel to it.
Loved it ! -

“There’s something that comes with age and time” there is something about this line that speaks with stoicism and control which also lets a little leeway to catch a case.
I loved the underlying theme, she may try tempt him but you have his heart.
Great work -
This is a subtle warning huh. LOL.
You make it seem “nice” because it rhymes. But so does “sharp” and “harp” -which is what they will be playing when you finish them off. LOL.
Great little ditty, with some real smoke!

I don’t know when we let it start but it is not going away any time soon no matter how many get hurt.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the write my friend. As far as I’ve been able to piece together it’s been building for decades, subtle things at first, now not so much. All that’s left is hope and that is what they’re trying to kill. So I guess it’s up to people to keep hope alive. Appreciate you, cuz.

And here I thought this was going to be a Metalicca tribute…
I dunno dude, America is pretty messed up and confused by a lot of things. I don’t even try to understand most of the craziness coming from all sides. The aggression and violence, and antagonism’s and instigating is so rampant. I don’t see any solutions either, in any of it all.
Thankfully we can chill within our creative worlds and that helps us deal with it.
Your write is spot on. Bravo.-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mark. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Sorry for throwing you off into thinking it was going to be a Metallica tribute. lol. I guess all we can do is what writers do, write our observations down and share them, and try our upmost best to keep some form of hope alive. I don’t know that anyone person has the answer to the world’s problems, so I just keep moving forward brother. Appreciate you.

Damian. Your social commentary is spot on here. Your message is clear and your voice is loud & intelligent.
-
Thank you for voicing something that’s been on my mind for quite sometime now. I had a title in mind but your piece has influenced me. Wonderful work sir. Let’s be the voice for the voiceless.

Sigh…where to begin? I’m really late in arriving to this piece and it’s going to take me a while to catch up again. This is such a solid expression of the insanity taking place these days. And as more has occurred since the writing of this, it doesn’t appear to be ending. What we can take and hold as hope is that my fellow Minnesotans said fuck the tyranny and stepped up. Not in violence, but in peaceful protest and consistently showing up. The intent of the regime was to instill enough fear and chaos immediately to cower everyone quietly into their assigned boxes. That didn’t happen. They chose a winter people in their hibernation season. Wake the bear…deal with the repercussions. They’re Vikings, for fuck sake! We do outnumber the guns and the bullies. That’s something to hold on to, my friend.
-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I’m just glad to see you back in my comments. lol. You’ve been missed around here my friend. I did write this one for your fellow Minnesotans. It isn’t smart to provoke Vikings in their hibernation season, I agree. It’s all a revenge tour for this cult and their wicked heartless leader. Unfortunately they’re far from done, up to us writers to keep the bonfire lit. Just doing my best to keep up. It is something to hold on to. Appreciate you.
