    Wicked Storms

Built a foundation on a fault line Temperamental bias stirs beneath  No substance flows from the vine Every shortcut is laced with grief   When the walls tumbled down It revealed a foolish arrogance  Under that smile lives a frown A string-puppet born to dance   Rain pours from...

    • First, I hope you had a fantastic and soul-filling birthday. I have read this one 3 times now. I finish, sigh, scroll back up and read it again. It sinks into the mental marrow and stirs thoughts. You are a master of layers, my friend. I’m glad this one bubbled out of the “not yet” vault. It needed sunlight and shadows on its bones

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was a good birthday overall, played some piano, talked to J.J. Burton, and spent time with the wife and kids. Thank you for the b-day wishes. I definitely write in layers, probably because everything I observe has layers, including myself and humans in general. I come by it naturally I guess. lol. The “not yet” section has tons of writes in it, although some need work or at the very least a tweak or two. Always enjoy your commentary my friend. Appreciate you.

    • Captivating and intriguing piece.

You’ve got me hooked from the start. I was drawn to this by its title.

Strong choice of words. Exquisite in its own way.

A bold and daring read. x

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Rosie. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Thank you for your amazing commentary and support. Appreciate you.

    • Damian this song on mortality and the grim reaper was one of your very best. The sheer lyrical strength was formidable here. I loved every roaring line. You really made this come alive for me. I am amazed.

      • Thank so much for reading and your kind words, John. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I’m amazed after 35 summers of doing this writing thing I haven’t lost my love for the craft. I’ve had ups and downs sure, if I were to ever lose that love then I might have something to worry about. lol. Enjoyed your commentary. Appreciate you.

  • Mosquitoes

It's been raining quite a bit of late, and the things that breed in brackish water have taken flight. How they find me is a mystery, perhaps some subtle gas I exude. In any case, to them I'm nothing more than tasty food. They reconnoitre the...

    • I said it before this is a beautiful conversation between the both of you

      • Thank Fia! We were actually talking about the desert and the oasis the other day on FaceTime. Had no clue we would be writing a poem about that subject! Life can surprise you!
You just never know what will make for good conversation and poetry.
I love that we merged it into one piece.

        Thanks for stopping by!

    • I saw there were a bunch of comments on his post, so I sauntered over to post mine on your post instead. Gotta spread the love evenly, ya know. This is a beautiful collaboration and I fully relate to the desert/oasis vibe. I once wrote a piece titled Shifting Sands for my sweetie. Maybe I’ll drop it here at some point too. It’s funny how a word or a phrase acts as a springboard and we’re off!

      • Hi Willow. You should post it!! Whenever you are ready too, I’d love to read it.
You are a fantastic writer chica!

That’s what I love about being surrounded by writers. You just never know when you will be inspired. It just kind of crashes into you!

And thank you for stopping by on my post:)
        I’m glad you enjoyed!

    • Thank you Crimsin:)
Mark and i have done a few collaborations but this one is extra special!
      Have a wonderful Saturday!

    • Awwww. What an awesome comment.
Thank you for teaching me a new word!
That is exactly what Mark is for me!

    • Love like this doesn’t die—it just gets buried deep, waiting on stubborn hands to dig it back into daylight.
Your desert’s harsh, but the water’s still down there somewhere, whispering both your names.

      • Hi Thomas! That is exactly what i was trying to convey.
I was trying to find different forms of separation that are connected.
Everyone writes about the sun chasing the moon or vise versa.
I’m stoked that you got it! We gotta dig buddy, to recover from lost love and to find it.

        Thanks for stopping by!

    • Beautifully penned, Adel & Mark. What a lovely collaboration, really love the back and forth between you two, as in life and in love, your words also show your undeniable connection. Nicely done. Appreciate you both.

      • Hey Damien!

When you connect with someone on a physical level and outside of it, you hold on amigo.
Mark and I have great conversations all the time. We really do pay attention to each other and have great laughs too.
Don’t get him started on aliens!! Hahaha.
Which is how we got to talking about the desert and lost civilizations.
Then I read Crimsin’s poem and it all just clicked and the words began to flow like sand!

        Thanks for stopping by Damien!
Always a pleasure seeing you on my page amigo!

    • Dear A&M,

Two hands writing as one was inspirational to say the least. I found such hope in this write for those of us lost in the quagmire. I enjoyed how this write came to be and how we can create from a grain of sand from someone else’s sandbox and share. So many levels of metaphor, love, singular and joint thoughts. Loved the connection of the stanzas and how it was formatted in conversational style. Great piece! H🌷

      • Hi H!
I love this comment. For me it’s important when writing to also acknowledge the inspiration behind it.
Mark inspires me all the time, so do other writers on this site.

I also wanted to find a different metaphor besides the sun chasing the moon.
There are other connections we can draw from to write.

Im so happy you stopped by for a comment:)
        You are awesome!

    • Why thank you:)
When you get that eureka moment you gotta write it down before it vanishes!
I’m so happy you enjoyed our write.

      Thanks for commenting!

    • You guys are like the dynamic duo of poetry, tight work Lady

      • Awww. Thanks Meme. We are very in-tuned with each other.
Even when we are far away.

Your comment also reminded me of a show I would watch when I was a kid!
The Wonder Twins! Do you remember the cartoon?
They wore purple spandex and would activate their powers with a fist pump. Hahahaha

Thanks for your snaps on this!
        Woop Woop!
