• Epicurean Paradox

If God can act and does not, that is a choice. If God wants to act and cannot, then his power has limits. If God both can and wants to,Why does suffering exist? If God neither can nor wants to,Why call him God? Pain persists.Adjust...

    • Age old dilemma, for sure. I’ve asked this myself of all sorts of scholarly or “intelligent” people.
I steer clear of knocking the powers of a god-being, because some do indeed have faith in such. More power to them.
But, life has made me quite cynical. Therefore, I choose to believe in power of mankind as the true source of hopeful change.
Prayer is a fine form of meditation. Solutions come during that pause of…

      • Thanks for reading.
I agree entirely with your view particularly that praying sometimes brings solutions though not from a divinity but from ourselves.A peaceful quiet meditation works fine for me…. mostly.

    • I like this, and coming from someone who grew up in a conservative faith, as I got older I began to see things differently. Folks change the words to fit the narrative so that they can claim they are backed by divine power. It’s a scary thing.
      Great work.

    • Powerfully penned, Mstrmnd. Another excellent write my friend. Appreciate you.

    • Right now, I am in a massive dilemma myself with the ever increasing cost of add-ons to my mortgage. It has gone up 50% in just four years. This house is not worth what they charge me now. So, it may be time to go elsewhere sooner than expected.
Your write is obviously of a bigger picture, for all of us as a whole. The “dream” is being rocks through windows from so many directions. Peace of mind is scarce. Your frustration is loud, word by word.

      • Yeah..its absolutely frustrating.. nothing is affordable..my wife and I have focused on downsizing the past few years and cutting back the expenses where we can..but to your point u can’t cut back the mortgage or the rising utility bills or ins..and we are all drowning quickly..the rich are rapidly getting richer and there’s a huge gap between them and most of us..oir next step is to downsize our house.. but we are still months and months away from that as thats more complicated with moving and everything..but yes it feels like rocks through windows..sucks..thank you for commenting..and hopefully be there times ahead

    • I feel your frustrations through this piece and unfortunately I’m right there with you. Hopefully sooner rather than later everything works out for you and your family. Best wishes xx

      • Thank you for commenting..hopefully better times for all of us..need some good news and a future everyday ppl can look forward too..opportunity and hope are what inspires greatness..and we need to get that back

    Rat Holes and Absinthe

The basement smelled like damp carpet and stale beer. Peeling paint curled from the walls like forgotten letters. I sat at the desk with pen and paper. A bottle of absinthe, sweating in the dim light. Van Gogh stared back at me from...
