Love In The Time Of Katrina

Love in the Time of Katrina The wind swept through the backyardbending trees like kindling, howling windows, making them singa cyclone song filled with sorrow’s acheand love’s loss.I remembered these windsas I sat on the back porchwatching Winter’s snowcover the field and...

    • Yeah, that calm was not calm at all. The aftermath was. Terrible

      • Katrina, one of the long list of American crimes committed against Black folks. Countless numbers of Black people crammed into the Astrodome, that looked like the slave ships that brought African people here as slaves. The thousands of people who lost EVERYTHING and who were “dispersed” to different parts of the country. Yes it was natural disaster but made worse by man made oppression, like the whites who shot at Black folks on the bridge out of New Orleans, forcing them back into the floods. This country truly is a nation of barbarity and savagery.

Thanks Fia, it is always great when you come and visit my poems.

    Meeting Dali While Singing Nirvana

Meeting Dali While Singing Nirvana     The morning was heavy, thick; not from Summer’s heat or humidity, but from the dark shadows arising from the earth. As I walked across the field, it felt as though I was a fantasy wandering through reality. It was surreal, even though there was...

    • I love Kurt, I love him not because of his music, because of the man he is, the human he is, the soul he is. and no he didn’t kill himself, I’m one of those who believes it, have to say this. On the other hand I don’t like Dali lol but I surely can see how Nirvana’s music paints Dali’s mind. I’m glad I read this this morning, thank You my friend 💕 might be sending you some older poem after reading this.

      • WHAT!!??? You don’t like Dali??? LOL. No worries, I’m more of an Impressionist fanboy, than of Surrealism. Having said this, I find a lot of surrealism in Nirvana’s music and also in the life of Kurt Cobain. There is also a lot of irony in their music as well as in that whole period of time, the time of “Grunge” music (the 90’s into the early 2000’s). This was a response to the sappy 80’s music (though I admit there was some good music made then, mostly Madonna and Michael Jackson and of course Prince).

So, you think Cobain was murdered, interesting. At some point, you will have to tell me why you think this. What evidence do you have, etc.

Light, your visit was/is more than welcome, and I am thankful for your comment.

        • Thank You for accepting me as me and not kicking me out of the door of art lol as I’ve said, I understand how Dali’s work is connected to Nirvana’s music and yes Kurt’s life, Kurt’s mind was unique, and for sure surreal. I don’t know why many dislike the 80th, I love 80th and there was great real music back then, and NO ONE is like The King not even now!✨👑✨

As for Kurt being murdered, I might not have the evidence You want in my hands, but let’s us say it’s an inner voice I had since ever.

Thank You again, glad we can chat about other things through our poetry.

          • My bad, I should have been clearer. My asking about what evidence, I more meant the why, why do you think (or feel) that Kurt was murdered? For example, I believe that Jimi Hendrix was killed and did not die from a drug overdose.

Anyway, Light, I would never ever kick you out of the art room. NEVER!

            • I believe Jimi Hendrix was killed, so the king MJ, so Kurt Cobain, so many others… yet, the case in Kurt’s situation might be different, for me it’s enough to have that egotist brutal evil wife to have been killed not exactly by her, but with no doubt she has a hand with it.

    • It’s about time you participated in your own creation (site) again. Thumps up!
This didn’t disappoint either. The vivid details of the colors and their descriptive properties were on point.
      Good to see you Sam!

      • Thank you Styxian… I was trying to deliberately stay back a little… I didn’t want people to think I was a show off or a narcissist… besides, I’m not as good as many of you here on this site…so I’ll just enjoy reading from a distance… anyway, thanks again for those beautiful words

        • Dude, show off! Really. This is what a site is for. You being the “leader” can lead with your own writes. that in itself is motivation. It’s your baby! It’s encouraging to see the efforts and results of those who truly care about what they write, as you do.
A captain is or is not the best at everything. But they are the leader that motivates. Yeah?

          • Dude.. those are among the best words anyone has ever said to me… I really really appreciate your amazing words … I have no words to express how I feel

            • Just continue doing what you do. That is plenty.
And I hope you feel rewarded, and the appreciation from those who have joined this site. Be proud!

    • I am bias, pick the red. This is a lovely write Sam.

    • hello dearest Sam this is damned good my favorite has always been the sunflower something about it’s wild nature ❤️

    • By design, nature must facilitate sex over and over. Don’t know if plants enjoy it, but us mammals are just wild about it!
