Meeting Dali While Singing Nirvana

The morning was heavy, thick;

not from Summer’s heat

or humidity,

but from the dark shadows

arising from the earth.

As I walked across the field,

it felt as though I was a fantasy

wandering through reality.

It was surreal,

even though there was no

leaping tiger springing from thin air;

or limp watches hanging off

dead tree branches.

Dali was nowhere to be found.

As I continued on,

what came to mind was more,

“Pennyroyal Tea”,

“Come As You Are”

with a dash of

Nirvana’s “The Man Who Sold The World”.

And all I could reply was,

“I swear I don’t have a gun.”

And I had to ask,

what have we become?

Some days are like this.

    1. I love Kurt, I love him not because of his music, because of the man he is, the human he is, the soul he is. and no he didn’t kill himself, I’m one of those who believes it, have to say this. On the other hand I don’t like Dali lol but I surely can see how Nirvana’s music paints Dali’s mind. I’m glad I read this this morning, thank You my friend 💕 might be sending you some older poem after reading this.

      • WHAT!!??? You don’t like Dali??? LOL. No worries, I’m more of an Impressionist fanboy, than of Surrealism. Having said this, I find a lot of surrealism in Nirvana’s music and also in the life of Kurt Cobain. There is also a lot of irony in their music as well as in that whole period of time, the time of “Grunge” music (the 90’s into the early 2000’s). This was a response to the sappy 80’s music (though I admit there was some good music made then, mostly Madonna and Michael Jackson and of course Prince).

        So, you think Cobain was murdered, interesting. At some point, you will have to tell me why you think this. What evidence do you have, etc.

        Light, your visit was/is more than welcome, and I am thankful for your comment.

        • Thank You for accepting me as me and not kicking me out of the door of art lol as I’ve said, I understand how Dali’s work is connected to Nirvana’s music and yes Kurt’s life, Kurt’s mind was unique, and for sure surreal. I don’t know why many dislike the 80th, I love 80th and there was great real music back then, and NO ONE is like The King not even now!✨👑✨

          As for Kurt being murdered, I might not have the evidence You want in my hands, but let’s us say it’s an inner voice I had since ever.

          Thank You again, glad we can chat about other things through our poetry.

          • My bad, I should have been clearer. My asking about what evidence, I more meant the why, why do you think (or feel) that Kurt was murdered? For example, I believe that Jimi Hendrix was killed and did not die from a drug overdose.

            Anyway, Light, I would never ever kick you out of the art room. NEVER!

            • I believe Jimi Hendrix was killed, so the king MJ, so Kurt Cobain, so many others… yet, the case in Kurt’s situation might be different, for me it’s enough to have that egotist brutal evil wife to have been killed not exactly by her, but with no doubt she has a hand with it.
