    Don't Make Me Over

Girl, your silver-tipped prose  was going to haemorrhage me   word circus turned me to clown    In octagon of mirrors in the gallery cafe  where lipstick palimpsest on coffee cups  colour rouge all the shades of desire,  I viewed her nipples from eight different angles  through the ‘God?’ emblazoned on her thin t-shirt,   reflected to crack’d promises  who dared walk on broken ice?    China...

    Sunrise (not my poem)

I am not the sunrise but I should be I should be a cascade of wind an unfinished scent the geometry of words starting a fresh poem allowing the lines on my face to tell it all leak the shade of grief   I should be an ounce of...

    • This is tender. A nice tribute to her. Sorry for your loss.

      • Thanks Fia.

This was actually the last ever poem she wrote before the morphine, methadone and chemo took hold of her skull. She was very popular in DU. The truth lies on her death bed and with her children – but as I scribbled in the summary, deluded narratives prevented you all to say a proper goodbye. A huge fucking shame and shameful.

    • Lovely sad beautiful poem.

      Thanks for posting 🙏

    • Now this one I can see a bit of the dark side. There’s a deeply relatable element to this that transcends subject or time. Depending on the point of being, it fits multiple topics. We write from a perspective and when it’s shared, it develops unexpected layers. I would like to have seen it performed during your 15 minutes of fame. It must have had a tremendous draw to it, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. I was in a very dark place when I penned this one, I was going through something heavy, and it came out in the words. The one thing I truly love about what we do as writers, is the multiple meanings the reader or listener can take away from our words. We as the writer know what we’re really talking about or going through when we create. The reader doesn’t have those blinders on, they are in fact another point of view, without the writers biases. It is a great little song. It got a response from the crowd. Appreciate you.

    • This makes me feel your pain. The growl had to be wicked on this song.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. I was in pain when I penned this, so the words are ripe with it. The growl makes its point known. Appreciate you, cuz.

    Swabby Sam, the Sailor Man

Awright, Pollywogs and wee tiny crabs Gather all around and hear me gab I'm spinnin' a yarn that's salty and true Get yer hands from ye pockets and quit playin' pool Now, Swabby Sam, he liked his rum And got real sloshed while choppin'...

    • Oh, Sam, ewww! How could you! Didn’t you even think to include the delightful octopussy? Talk about a hand job! Wowzer!

    • Thanks. Noooo, Swabby Sam wasn’t drunk enough to risk his gooey duck with no octopussy!
