    The sad state of things.

As though a nearby pond has dried up,I've lost something (in writing). I used to look out the window.I'd get ideas and write them down. Now...all I see are houses and maybea new fence. My self-title of poetry man is asking...talk to...

    • Don’t be afraid of the silence.
Talent is permanent and you have it.
We all dry up for a while .

    • Powerfully penned, Tim. We all go through those spells my friend, it’s the life of a writer it seems. Be patient with your muse, sometimes they get fickle, but usually come around when it’s time. Hang in there brother. Maybe this write can help you start to break through the barrier. Appreciate you.

    • Thank you, ntd. Welcome to the site.

    • Silence can be deafening when we’re used to words and inspiration. The world is heavy right now, pressing down on creativity. I always find that not trying to look at it directly has a better chance of making contact again with the muse. I’ve been here, it is scary indeed

    • Well I for one am glad you are back. For two, writing tends to play hide and seek.
Eventually it will tag you amigo!
Don’t stress about the dry spell.
Enjoy life and the day to day stuff we take for granted.
Inspiration just might be found there two.

      Hang in there buddy!

    • When I am stumped, I read several different pieces from a few writers that continue to inspire me. It usually works.
Yet, we all have that lull of course. It’s a breather from the mental tasking perhaps? At any rate, you will find a moment I am sure, to share a gem of yours with us. Hang tough!

    • Every poet hits that dry pond sooner or later—the mud cracks, the frogs go quiet, and you think the water’s gone for good.
But the fact you’re scared of the silence tells me the well’s still yours—it’s just waiting on rain.

    • Tim, I too have been through this. I believe your gift is still as strong as ever, it was just waiting for the right moment to resurface. You never lose the muse. This poem itself is an example of how you can take an emotion or feeling and make it into art.

      • I’ve been going through a dry spell for years. Every once in a while a poem whispers in my ear. Thanks for the comment, John.

    • Wow awesome. As the person said Don’t be afraid of the silence, I know it can be scary but it won’t hurt you. I personally learned to deal with it and eventually you will too.

      Great work

      • Thank you for the comment, Lizz, I appreciate your thoughts. 🙂

    • It’s sad but beautiful words too. Sometimes there is no words to express. Except the silence around you. In silence our eyes see enough inspiration around us when there’s no sound , no voice in a small spot. Good write..Keep it up 🤗

      • good evening dearest Adagio thank you graciously the song put me in a slightly hypntic state beinging forward what was aready in my thoughts thank you very much ❤️

    • The whole piece is great but that opening line is magic.
It also reminds me of the movie Dune.
The desert sands look so smooth and soft.
My older son told me once they remind him of butter. lol

Mark and I had a conversation today about the Sahara desert and how years ago it had an oasis.
How time and the earth can shift!

I think I’m inspired now to write about the desert!
      You rock chica!
Thanks for all of your inspiration!

      • hello beautiful Adelphina you have a lovely soul and I love where your inspiration took you… I was listening to the song I shared and went into a hypnotic state and landed in the desert in Enoch the angel Michael was ordered to bind his brother Azazel with a chain in the desert who is specifially talking here I am unsure… sometimes I channel what I hear….but that it took you to such a beautiful place is wonderful perhaps to that place before the problems in the Garden thank you sweet lady ❤️

    • Cool stuff, Brenda. I like the imagery that you pulled together. It has an almost looming presence overwatching it.
Great ideas you put together here.

      • hello dearest Styxian thank you for picking up the vibe of this write I don’t always like what comes through but am bound to write as I hear…this I believe in part to be Azazel talking thank you for your thoughts ❤️

    • Powerfully penned, Brenda. Excellent write with amazing imagery my friend. Appreciate you.
